7 A lovely bright sunny day. Headache in the morning but got up in time to get dinner. Lorraine took me up to see Mother and to see Mrs Albert. A few cars drove around.
8 Blowing hard and cloudy in the morning. Did a big big washing and some ironing. We went to Rustico after supper and had a little visit with Dorothy.
9 Lorraine finished ironing and we went to S. Side in the afternoon. Had a nice little visit with Mrs Stirling and got home before dark. Doctor found Dads condition the same as last year.
10 A cloudy day but no rain, much colder. Charlie MacFarlane called to tell of the arrival of their first little girl (Margaret Elizabeth). We were sewing to-day, too cold for house cleaning.
11 Still cold and a little rain this morning, grass growing but a warm rain is needed. Bound a quilt for Dorothy Toombs. Prime Minister King spoke to the Lords and Commons and it was broadcast throughout the world. Made taffy to-night.
12 Ina taking chicken pox. She was in school and came home feeling not so good. Dad and Lorraine went up for clams. Lorraine cleaned the front room.
Eric Bell and Margaret Howatt married at the Manse this evening around 7 o’clock.
13 Lovely morning and we washed quilts. Cleared up in afternoon and turned cold. Went to Rustico to-night.
Three Anson planes have not returned from flight on Saturday night. On 18th, two had been located, seven men dead but two safe.
14 Another lovely day. Reuels brought Pauline out and took Lorraine back with them for her visit at the Vesseys in York. I went to church in Stanley with Mr & Mrs Coffin.
15 Did quite a sizeable wash and feel a bit tired to-night. Stitched 13 diapers too.
16 Busy all day. Went to Hunter River for Mary Lornes chickens. Mrs Coffin took our car over. Ironed at night.

17 Washed blankets and all the little things I had stitched for Pauline and curtains. Tired at night, ankle very sore. Warm at night.
18 Pouring rain this morning and shift of wind, rain turned to hail and snow. Mr & Mrs Coffin took me to Town, we took Hazel along too and brought Waine out. Fine in afternoon but bitter cold at night.
19 Fine to-day. Lorraine cleaning the S. East room and her own. Pretty busy from this time on until I started my trip to Ontario with the two girls,
May 30 & June Ina and Louise on the 30th. Went to Pickering for a week. Rome was captured on June 4th and the invasion started on June 6th. A terrific thunderstorm that morning in Pickering. Murray and Marion and family came for me on the 7th and I stayed with them for two weeks then we had a day in Toronto and I went out to Pickering for my trunk and got home. Anita with me on the 23rd. Anitas trunk was shipped out on someone else’s
