September-October 1942

Sept 1942

21  Cold north easter and rained all day. Heber in bed all day feeling pretty rotten. Felt like sewing and made a blouse for one of the girls. Tired of the wind, went to bed early. Rained all night but calmed down.

22  Rained all day and at 10:30 its still coming straight down. After the long spell of dry weather it means a lot to the country. Heber better to-day.

23  Heber went to Town this forenoon but certainly didn’t look very good. Cleared up in afternoon and we went to Simpson Bells for the evening. Road pretty muddy 6 inches of rain fell in three days. Anita & I picked moss at Mays[?].

24  A grand day, not cold. Washed and the girls went to Alec’s to finish the moss. Busy all day and tired to-night.

25  In bed until 2 or 3 o’clock. Not feeling very spry and didn’t do much but bring the callas into the house and Nans cactus.

26  Another gorgeous day, not cold. Girls went to Town and Grant was here for dinner. Norman Morris and Carl Anderson arrived about 4 PM and we all went to Stanley after supper and visited with Premier and Mrs Campbell.

27  Nice day but blowing hard. The girls drove Norman and Carl to Hunter River then came back to church. Had about 15 cars in to-day but everyone got away early.

28  Washed but didn’t get clothes out. Blowing hard and

Went to a quilt cutting out at Mrs Townsends and to the Orchid, to Janies and to the Hospital, to Mrs Spencers and Mrs Irene Simpsons. Anita PJ and Dad came in for me at night and its nice to be home again.
