Sept 1942
Labor Day
7 Was a blowy cold day. Quite a number around and we fed 26 and closed the tea room for this year. We went to the shower at Willie Toombs for Elva and Art Henry. Had a nice evening but was too tired.
8 Girls did a big washing. Mr Smith here for dinner. Not feeling very good. Have not been sleeping. Girls got more moss. A perfectly lovely day.
9 Another fine day. Have had a lot of headache. Ernest digging his Green Mountain potatoes. Annie Alfred here this evening. Making damson & apple jam.
10 A nice day. Finished the potatoes. Earl fixing gutter of house. Rained all afternoon and keeping it up to-night.
11 Rainy this morning. Anita and Pauline went to Town and Nan got 4 or 5 teeth out. I walked to the top of the hill for the first time in over two years.
12 A lovely day and everyone busy. Started knitting a little red quilt for a 2 yr old boy. Cecil came for Mother in the evening and got her home. A big relief to me.
13 Stayed in bed until around 2 PM. Rained all the morning. Quite a number around this afternoon. Dad Anita & I went to United Church in Kensington and called in at Mable Simpsons.
14 A perfectly lovely day. Anita went to Town with Heber and got the rest of her teeth out. Pauline & I met her at Hunter River. Washed etc. Mr Smith here to dinner.
15 A perfect day and I spent it at the shore. We went down to see Mrs Chester Woolner to-night. She is at Lucys, in bed.
Sept 1942
16 Terribly tired all day, guess had too much sun yesterday. Still very warm. We went to Hunter River at night to see the pictures of PEI put on by the travel Bureau and Percy Turner in and advertizing War Saving Campaign.

17 78. Very warm. Made jelly. Not much good all day. Mr Smith, Mrs Smith & Mrs Stewart here most of day and the Tilley family over. Charlie Murray here for dinner. We all had supper on the lawn.
18 82. Very warm to-day and no one doing more than they can help. Not many around. Girls went with Eric Bell last night to Gordons charivari.
19 A lovely day very warm and blowing some. Anita Pauline, May Green and I went to Town. Pauline took civil service exams. Had dinner at Enids. Heber came out at night, has been sick all week with the flu and is still feeling punk.
20 Nice morning but clouded over and wind came around in afternoon, quite cold. Quite a number around. We had four airmen from Toronto (S.Side) and gave them a lunch and two officers from Ch Town (English) had tea. We went to Carleton for supper. Picked up a spike at Calbecks corner. Had lobster supper and a lovely iced cake. Pouring rain all the evening and all night.
