23 A perfect day. Temp around 68 & 70 and everything so green and beautiful. The men sawing wood. Had engine trouble. Mr McCallum here.

24th Cloudy and showery in morning. Sun came out in afternoon. Men finished sawing. Busy with Saturday work and made drop cookies.
25 Cloudy and rainy in afternoon. Three RAFs out on Golf Course and got wet. Gave them tea & cookies. Heber came out this afternoon, went back early. Rev M Murray preached here to-day.
26 Rained nearly all day. Didn’t wash.
27 Went to Town. It rained very hard last night and helped the road some. Cleared up this evening. Went to Town for money for the 3rd Victory Loan. Got a letter from Marion. Bought me a new black dress. Charlie came back this evening and Lewis & Mrs Toombs were out.

28 Washed and baked and ironed. A lovely day but frost every night. Tired to-night.
29 Another lovely October day. Dad went to sale in Hope River of crop and stock of late John Leo McGuigan. Dad bought a ton and half of hay. Got two grand mackerel to-day.
30 Fine day but blowing hard. Sewing all day. Tired at night. Mosie[?] mowing the lawn with power mower.
31 Another fine day with south wind. Cleaning up around house. Sewing.
Nov 1942
1 Temp to-night 66. A perfectly lovely morning. Tired all day. Coughed a lot last night. Heber came out this afternoon and took us to Clifton Church to-night. Mr Woodside was the speaker and he had an Air Force choir.
2 Not a bad day. Had rained in night but cleared up and a lovely evening. We got Jack to take us to Brackley. Took May and Alec along. Called to see Aunt Emily but no one home at Gordons. Grant here to-day for dinner.
3rd Fine but cloudy. Rained very hard all evening and night. Mosie working at the drain from cellar. Quiet night. Sewing.
4 A regular Nor’easter and raining some. Turned colder. Heard Spencer Tracey from Toronto on the Third Victory Loan.
5 A lovely fine day and not very cold. Had two RCAF boys come in just as I had finished washing the dinner dishes. Gave them dinner. Almost finished another dress. War news better. Wm Robinson died in Hospital.

6 Another nice day and colder but cloudy. Cleared up at night, Ernest taking a cold to-night. Finished another dress and pair of mittens. Listened to Radio until midnight.
7 Fine and cold to-day. Expected Keith up today but he didn’t make it. American troops are landing in Africa to-night in French Africa.
8 S. A lovely morning but turned chill and grey in afternoon. Two or three cars around but no one in. Wrote to Edwin Simpson. Mrs Rollings died this morning after a long illness.
