May 1951

 

24  and Terry & Larry and Rodney went home with them. Very cold to-night somewhere around to-night. Hester wasn’t so well yesterday and Marjorie was over all day.

 

25  Still cold and damp. Cleaned the dining room. Miss the small boy. Tired.

 

26  Scrubbed and waxed the kitchen floor. Made up a pair of curtains for front room. Went down to Jerrys for eggs and went with Reggie & Cora to the store, Herbs. Hester not too good to-day.

 

27  S. Not feeling very well and on couch most of day. Hester had a lot of company.

 

28  Got a little of back lawn cut. The grass has got ahead of me and is very heavy cutting.

 

29  Cleaned the spare bed room and hall up stairs. Poured rain all day and blowing a gale from S. East. Power went off about 8 PM but was on at 9:40.

 

30  Still cloudy and wind cold. Letter from Anita.

 

June 1  Washed and cut grass with shears.

 

2  John McNeill came up in evening to cut lawn. Lovely day but turned cold at night.

Hugh & Mabel MacKinnon’s little boy 9 months old died in Hospital in Halifax

 

they cut the lawn for me.

 

3  Raked the grass and cut the lawn again this morning. Started to rain in afternoon and kept

 

4  at it all night.

 

5  Marion Britton Knowles has a new baby girl.

 

11  Busy in garden all this week. Got almost every thing planted, tired at night. Ethel Simpson died.

 

14  Mary & Edward have a boy this time. Weather has been fine all week but keeps cool. Icebergs in St. of Bellisle.

 

15  Rained some and cloudy. Ethel Simpsons funeral to-day, quite a number there. We had quite a lot of rain in June and twas quite cool.

 

July 1  Anita came home. I was in Town to meet her. We went to Trinity Church that night and heard Dr. Bonnell. Came out the next day and had a pretty good two weeks. Went

 

8  to O’Leary and Campbellton to-day. Took our eats with us and had a nice trip. Nan had a day fishing with the Smileys and we all had a Camp fire at shore on 11th and Pauline and boys stayed out until Friday night the 13th.
