Nov 1948
6 Another fine day but damp. Mrs Ben Woolner dropped in this afternoon and Ben came in for a little while too. Not very idle all day. Expect the Jones family and Gordon and Lydia to-morrow.
7 The Jones family came around 3 PM but did not pick up Gordons. A warm day, was 66 in the after noon. Raining.
8 A nice day, blowing. Washed.
9 Another fine day, and got my baking & ironing done. Pretty fine all week. Spent quite a lot of time chasing Stirlings pigs.
11 Thursday poured rain all the morning on PE Island. It was Remembrance Day across Canada. We got the Broadcast from Ch. Town and Ottawa.
13 May and Willie came about 1:30 and stayed until about 5 o’clock. Twas raining when they left and rained for some time.
14 Blew a terrific gale about 5 AM and rained very hard. A pretty quiet Sunday.
15 A nice day and I washed but not a very drying day.
16 A very cold wind from the north. Baked and ironed. A lovely box of Crysanthemums came from Keiths. I took some down to Anna. Shes improving some.
18 Fred went to Summerside. Has had a sore side. May Clark Smith over. Not doing very much. Knit a pair of gloves for Ernest. Letters from all the family.
Clarence Stewart brought us four loads of split wood this week. Jimmy Clark trimming up the other side of the road where they had to cut the trees for the Electric light line. Terrible accident in Long River, Mrs Alton Bell instantly killed when the wheels of her husbands truck went over her head. The door of truck opened going around a turn, she tried to reach it and fell.
20 Snowed all day and rained at night and was altogether miserable. The poor little petunias covered with snow and still blooming.
21 S. The Jones family didn’t get out. The road is very bad and we were glad they didn’t attempt the trip. Hester was over in the evening. George brought us a trout and four smelts for supper. Were they ever good.
22 Finer to-day. Stirling got part of the banking done. The rest of the month was very mild and every one busy getting work done.
December Had a pudding for Dad on the 3rd and Hester George, Fred & Winnielea came over with a birthday cake for him.
4 Larry 1 year old to-day and had a birthday cake too and I had some of it on Monday when I went to Town with Una & Eric. A telegram came to Jerrys saying that Mima had died on
Dec 5th from a heart
