November 1944

 

15  Nice day. Went to Town after dinner with Mrs Coffin and stayed with Pauline all night. Pauline trying to get things packed up to move.

 

16  Did a little shopping in afternoon. Got home about 9 PM.

 

17  The men getting things cleaned up around and more wood home. Shower in afternoon.

 

18  Looks as tho’ we might have a fine weekend. Will Graham went to Hospital this afternoon.

 

19  S. Fine until evening when there was snow flurries. Dad & I walked to church in the morning and Jack took us to Town at night to Baptist Church. Nasty coming home.

 

20  Dad & Stanley went to Town for coal and lumber to finish the back porch. I went down to Lorne McNeills in afternoon.

 

21  Went to S. Side in afternoon. Fine day. Dr Claude very busy but took our blood pressure. Mine 156. Dad lower than it has been. Stanley the only one working here and he helped Dad get the wood in and hay in the barn.

 

23  Howard Hurst & Fred Hussey P/O came in the evening for a four days stay for Howard, two for Fred. Weather not very good on the

 

24 & 25  but the boys played golf on the 25th in the

25  rain and wind. Jack & Mary down this evening & Jack & Dad took Fred to Hunter River at 10 PM.

 

26  A nice day but no church near. Heber PJ & Terry arrived in time for supper. George & Sadie down and Eric and Marion came in after Church at Stanley.

 

27  A nice day but I didn’t wash. Eric & Marion took Howard to Hunter River at 10 PM to catch the bus.

 

28  Rained most of day. Tired and didn’t wash

 

29  until to-day. Left the clothes out all night and

 

30  ironed to-day. Dad & Jack, Laura, Alma & Fred went to S. Side. Alf Simpsons sale was on at St. Eleanors but was called off as it was pouring rain and blowing a gale. Dad got home at dark but the storm cleared up before 10 o’clock and the moon was shining. Bad storm in Quebec and through the States.

 

Dec 1   Nice day, quite mild and clouded up around 4 PM and snow flurries & sunshine.

 

2  Fine, Dad and I went to Town after supper. Twas quite frosty. Called on Pauline for a little while on the way home.

 

3  A nice fine day and Dads nephew and four others playing golf and had their lunch in the kitchen. Church at night.

 

4  Another nice day. Dad walked up to the Bay. Mr Coffin went shooting and I was knitting.
