10th August Churchill, wife & daughter arrived in Quebec City
30 Fine and 31st rained
Aug 13 Have had a lot of wet cool weather. A lot of hay out yet. Been hard for farmers to get work done. Went to visit Mrs Stirling in Kensington Sat night the 7th. Rained hard that night but was fine on the 8th but cold, a good many around. Nan & I went to see Dorothy Toombs. The 9th Dorothy and Erma came up to pick raspberries, Anita had to go to H River with people staying at Lornes. 10th we went to Summerside and Claude found Ernest fairly good. The grain crops look immense. Old Home Week from 10th to 13th inclusive. Nan went in for the evening on the 12th. Quite a number of Maritime people around this week. The races and show not much to blow about. The city crowded and people found it hard to get accommodation. Wasn’t much need of an Old Home Week when war conditions are what they are. Europe is getting a terrific blasting these days.
14 Rained all day, poured in afternoon and a sharp thunderstorm at night. Anita went to Town with Allen and didn’t get home until Monday 16th at 2 PM.
15th Sunday and we had 110 register. The busiest day this summer. The Brinton family over after church.
16 Busy in morning in fact all day. Went to Carleton in evening. Keith had decided to make a change and we may have the children for the winter.

17 Washed in morning and canned beans in afternoon tired at night.
18 A lovely day and quite a number around. Ironed, had a good many interruptions. Misses Moore and Haszard around in evening. Pauline out with Reuels.
19 A perfect day and the place looks beautiful to-night. Spent the afternoon with Elaine. Saw a strange plane this afternoon [drawing] with one engine under right wing.
20 Another perfect day. Not much happened, sold the last of my books. Quite a number of people around.
21 Still another fine day. A good many around here would finish hay. We went to Town at night, took Elaine with us.
22 S. A very fine Sunday and quite a number in and out in afternoon. Heber & PJ, Cyril and Annie, & Janette here too. Myron preached in Baptist Church at night. A grand sermon. Wide awake to-night.
23 A very nice day. Did a big washing and Anita went after berries. Didn’t feel very good in afternoon and evening.
24 Bad headache all day. Got up but had to go to bed again. Rained at night. Anita took Myron to Hunter River, Convention in Wolfville this week.
25 Up to-day but back sore. Lovely day. Edwin Simpson came along in afternoon, very tired, stayed all night. Reuels brought Walter out.
26 Colder to-day. Back still sore. Harold Vessey and his Mother and Uncle Ben Mallet were
