18th Maple Leafs beat Detroit R. Wings in Stanley Cup playoffs. The first in ten years.
12 S. A dirty day. Dad went to Rustico for Pauline but the pavement is blocked again and she didn’t get out.
13 Not a nice day. Pauline got as far as Hunter River last night and hitch hiked the rest of way to-day. Has her lower teeth out. Cecil & Leona down to see Mother.
14 Did a fair sized washing. Dad walked to Gordon Lairds and had a day visiting.
15 Heavy rain in afternoon, turned to snow at night. Ironed and sewing or knitting. War news not too good.
16 Mrs Darnley Clarke 90 yrs old to-day. Its snowing and blowing. Just a miserable day. Cold night, Northern Lights. Maple Leafs playing in playoff in Detroit.
19 S. A miserable dreary day. 18th Maple Leafs won Stanley Cup.
20 Foggy, didn’t wash. 21st washed, put a quilt in frame, dahlia pattern. Snowed at night and the clothes a mess. Austin Graham started work on the 20th.
21 Quilting to 24, when we finished it.
24 Temp up to 75 to-day, probably 70 would be more correct. Still warm at night. Dad gone to Johnstons for a hair cut. Roads drying and snow going tho’ the ice is in quite close as far as you can see. Took off all the outside windows.
Aunt Maud, L.M Montgomery MacDonald died in Toronto this afternoon.
25 72A. Not feeling very good and the news of Mauds death came as a shock. A wire from Stuart help us and

25 Ernest had a busy day as well as Pauline & myself. Mother too was very busy all day making all the funeral plans. Anna over in evening. Ernest phoned Mr Stirling, Keith, Mrs Campbell & Ch Town from Art Simpsons.
26 Turned colder last evening, ice in again, just drift ice and wind North blowing hard and the roads drying fast.
27 Annie came and washed and we ironed and were busy practically all day until 8 PM. Dad & Pauline went to Carleton for the car. Austin took them down in truck. Road very good.
28 Annie here and everyone busy getting house in order. Mother not so good. Ernest & Pauline went to Hunter River to meet train and Maud was brought home. Mr Macdonald, Chester and Stuart and Dr Baird here for supper. Dr Baird went to Jerrys at night. Mr Macdonald in a terrible state. Enid came out in afternoon and stayed with us all night. Weather cool but fine. Mrs Campbell and Jim here.
29 Blowing hard but fine. Ham landed along for dinner. Mother very sleepy. A very large funeral at church, with Guard of Honor (RCMP). Mr Stirling officiated, Dr Baird, Mr Tillie & Somebody (Mr Skinner) also assisted. Terribly tired. Mr Mac went to Kinross with Aunt Cristie.
