down to Harry McK. in evening to see about his coat.
22 Cloudy fairly cold. Ham over for dinner. Neta in bed all morning. Let school out at 3 o clock and Milton took me to Hunter River and Arthur met me at Carleton. Big time at Wrights in evening. Eric took Pauline & Helen down to Ira’s to YPS.
23 Beautiful day – clear as crystal. Dad thrashed in morning and went to mill in afternoon. PJ went to Milton’s to Sewing Club but they had no meeting. Home in evening. Jean Clark got home.
24 0. Clear and cold. United service in afternoon. Fair crowd. Dad had a sleep morning and afternoon (so he says). Lowell, Johnstons and Ira Hill here in evening.
25 Snow then silver thaw and rather nasty. Finer in afternoon. Dad went to Hunter River for me. Arthur left for Chicago and I went as far as Sackville.
26 Perfectly lovely day and not very cold. Ed and Dad working in the woods. Eric Bell down in evening. Terrible floods in US.
27 0. Clear and cold. Dad and Edward finished hauling out wood. Letters from Uncle Ted & Mama.
Jan & Feb 1937
Temperature going down to-night.
28 -6. Clear. Nothing much doing. Lowell, Ethel and Douglas here in evening and after practice we had a fine time at Monopoly.
29 Clear. Pauline & Neta went to Herb McEwan to YPS & took Mr Pat and Douglas. Dad & I home. Still terrible reports of floods along Ohio and Mississippi River. Men here sawing wood.
30 Lovely day though fairly cold. Teaching to make up for Monday & Sewing Club at Manse in afternoon Home in evening.
31 Clear and cold. Home all day. Baptist service in evening. Small choir at Wyands all had cold. Mr Quigley in for a few minutes. Gordon Fyfe in too! New boy at Clives.
February 1 Snowing but not very cold – almost rain at night. I was to Ed. Grahams for supper. Shower for Dora at George McCoubrey’s at night – good crowd.
