Hauptman to be electrocuted to-night for the kidnapping and murdering of the Lyndberg baby. 48 hours reprieve granted.
quilting one quilt and put another in frames. Girls washed and ironed and cleaned up the straw and brush in garden. Perennials all up good. Even the peonies are up and the grass is getting green. Heavy showers this afternoon and wind NW and cooler tonight.

April 1st Heard to-night that Hauptman has a forty eight hour reprieve. Cold wind to-day. Ernest clipped Laddie. Finished quilting no. 2 Irish chain. Cemetery Committee meeting.
2 Snow storm to-night but was a lovely morning tho froze hard but thawed out. Dad cut down part of big balm tree. Made Sultana Cake. Girls sewing their summer cotton dresses and were over to Winnies this evening.
3 Finer to-day and the snow of last night about gone. YPS at Mrs McCoubreys. Lorraine and Dad at play practice.
Hauptman Electrocuted
4 Cold wind to-day. Austin over all forenoon. Arthur came up this afternoon. Anita finished hooking and cleaned up the landing and sewing room.
5 Fine day but chill wind and looks and feels like snow. Glorious moon light night. Sing song at Wyands.
6 Not a nice day. Girls washed but didn’t leave clothes out very long but they dried fairly well. Arthur went home in the morning.

Road to Hunter River opened to trucks.
6 Blowing a gale from SE to-night and raining. No news. Mrs Laird (Murrays Mother) broke her hip.
7 Fine in forenoon and until evening. I went down to shore in afternoon. Lovely down there but shore has changed some, a lot of rocks showing up. Blowing at night and started to snow and a
8 real snow storm this morning from N. East and such a gale. Road blocked. Bobbie came but no other carriers left H. River to-day. Choir practice here to-night for Easter Services.
9 Lovely day and Dad busy hauling out wood. Edward here helping him. Went over to Austins after dinner and hooked all the afternoon. Play practice and a YPS Com meeting.
10 Lovely day. Ernest shoveling the road in AM. Made two aprons. Anita & PJ walked to YPS at Chester Woolners and Lorraine, Dad & I went to the Manse to here Handels Messiah.
11 Bitter cold east wind. Ernest at Austins sawing wood. The rest of family tired and sleepy. Marions letter came telling of Mother Lairds accident, a broken hip. Play practice and Ellice over. 1st new calf.
12 Such a miserable stormy day for Easter. Snowed all afternoon so the YPS service didn’t come off. Mr. Quigley over in afternoon. Three men from Toronto entombed in Mine in Moore River. 2nd calf.
