Three Ontario men in a caved in Gold Mine in Nova Scotia for a week
13 Snowing all day and blowing harder to-night not doing much.
14 Same old thing. Snowing all day but milder. Nothing doing. Fellow brought fresh herring 20c per dozen. Ham here for supper. Play practice. Nix?
1st fresh herring
15 Not very good in morning but cleared up lovely. Ernest shoveling snow in forenoon. Road full from here to Bay View. Institute here to-night.
16 Glorious morning and day. Girls washed. And Nan & I cleaned back porch. Ernest trying to find his wood pile in the snow. P. Practice in Hall. Very heavy thunder storm and a barn burned in Stanley.

17 Nice day, blowing hard. Wind SW. The men had to shovel the church hill, full from top to bottom. Bobbie brought team in carriage. Anita & Pauline quilting at Arties. YPS at Jerrys’. Mrs Audrey Browns barn 3 horses, 4 cattle & 2 pigs burned.
18 Not a bad day. Ernest killed little porker. Anita up at Freds helping Hester. Play practice to-night.
19 S. Nice day. Easter Service in afternoon. Arthur came up. Sing song at Wyands. Charlie Pink here to tea. Word came over radio that the men in the mine had been reached and they were trying to get soup to them but there has been a cave in and the rescue work has been delayed.

20 Lovely day. Sawing wood. Cemetery meeting at night. Anita at Wyands part of day and me in bed all day with headache. Snow went some to-day. Arthur went home this morning. Hermon Magil died in mine.
21 Wind SE and warm. Ernest helping George McC. saw wood. Anita helping Blanche houseclean. Girls washed and ironed. Play practice. Men still in mine.
poured rain
22 Blowing a gale all day and Art Simpson was harrowing. Ernest & Stephen splitting wood. Choir practice at Wyands. Margaret very very sick.
23 Word came over the radio while we slept that the men had been taken out of the mine, two of them alive. Mr. Magill died on Monday AM. Sent our seed order and put in a quilt. Went up to see Gertrude and Hester this evening. P. practice.
24 Cold wind. North & east. Men finished splitting wood and we finished quilting no. 3. YPS at Wyands.
25 Nice day but cool. Dorothy Toombs came home with the girls last night. I went to Town with Ernest & Winnie and saw the quintuplets at night at the Prince Edward. Margaret very sick and Mr & Mrs Gardiner came up for Ellice. Phoned Arthur late at night and they thought her a little better.
26 Reuels brought me out this morning. Rained a little this evening and we had church in almost darkness. Wyands & Robbie & David in after church.
