Sept 1934

 

10  Misty day and north east wind in afternoon. Made pickles, baked bread, washed and Anita & PJ went to Hunter River to dentist. Rev Sydney Gilchrist lectured in United Church on Africa. Mima here at night.

 

11  Made Marions fruit cake today. Ellice over Committee meeting at night to arrange for Bay Conference on Sat. night. All in.

 

12  Lovely day all day. Had a tremendous shower for Marion at Jerrys. About 150 there. Arthur and Keith and Margaret up.

 

13  Marion and I went to Ch Town with Ernest and Winnie. Had a terrible day shopping and both very tired when we got home. Reuel brought us out and ‘twas a lovely drive.

 

14  Very busy all day getting ready for YPS at night. The church gave Marion a lovely Aer o pack suitcase. Weary?

15  Lovely day. Mrs. Wyand here. Boys Conference in Cavendish and George Ramsay and C[?] Lowther here. Banquet at night in Hall. Emily Stewart here over weekend

 

16  Great day. Reuels here to supper. All but Marion and Bobby went to Church at night. Mr Leary spoke.

 

17  Very hot day all day. Marion & Waine

17  went to Hunter River for dentist but Bonnell went to Halifax with Laurie Bulman. Mrs. Hammond & Charlie McKenzie here this evening. Mima here all night

 

18  Marion had letter from Murray. Mr. Laird died on the 14th. Quite a shock and of course has settled all plans for a wedding on the 22nd. Very warm day, rained at night.

19  Rained a little in AM. Garden glorious Institute at Jean Smiths. School fair in Mayfield. Emily here all night.

 

20  Took Emily up this lovely morning and brought Mima over. The 29th wedding anniversary. Jean Dora and Mary McLean here. Mrs Wyand here in evening. Ernest & I went over to see Ellice.

 

21  Lovely day. Picking beans. Mima and I making calls at John Fs. Clarence Stewarts Jean Simpsons for tea and down at Ceds after.

 

22  Lovely day. Mima started back. Picking beans and plowing. Mrs Harry McKenzie here to tea. Picked beans until dark. Elmer Fyfe here in evening.

 

23  Mother down to-day. Church in morning. Quiet day. Charles McFarlane Ruby Cousins
