14  Fine and warmer to-day. Ernest harrowing. Anita went to town with Jack. Lorraine did the ironing and we did a little in the garden. Planted shallots. Letter from Anna, and a card from Marion saying Walter Meech had died May 8th. Ernest to Mayfield to a Liberal meeting. Raining.

15  Wind NW and cold. Not much rain last night but too wet to harrow. Ernest and David took plaster off of big room ceiling. Girls working in garden. Got up six big wash tubs of dahlias and put them in earth. I went over to John Fs in evening but Ellice came so they called me home. Play practice.

 

16  Fine and warm this afternoon. Ernest harrowing all day. Girls cleaning pantry. Practice to-night.

 

17  Nice day. Nan & Waine went to Rustico for paper for the pantry. Ernest harrowing after dinner and planted early potatoes behind cottage. Hot bed up good. YPS at manse to-night. Nan didn’t go. Tired.

 

18  Still cold. Ernest harrowing. Finished the pantry and got the house straightened up. Emily sewing on Anitas green dress. Play practice.

19  S. Fine in AM. Showery in PM. Mr & Mrs Wright and Arthur brought up Mr & Mrs Irving Toombs. The Wrights here for supper etc. U.C. at night. George down practicing a solo.

20  Fine day. Tired. Didn’t wash. In garden some, planted gladiola. Mrs Lorne Houston here in the afternoon for some dahlia bulbs.

 

21  Fine, warm in forenoon but wind cold in afternoon. Ernest sowing field at end of lane. Washed. Baked cookies and biscuit and first rhubarb pudding. Play practice.

 

22  Bitter cold wind. Ernest sowing field across lane. Cleaned kitchen. Girls washed the ceiling twice. Choir practice at Wyands to-night.

 

23  Still cold wind. Cleaned back porch. Sewing in afternoon. Went up to play practice at night. Everyone tired.

 

24  Nice day. Ernest harrowing pond shore field. I walked to shore and back before dinner. Girls got ready for Uncle Gordon’s and they didn’t come. Thyra and Fred Bingham here also Mrs. Webster. Oratorical contest in Kensington. Anita & L. went with Mr Paterson. Leah Lord 1st, Annie Lowther 2nd.

 

25  Lovely morning but turned bitter cold and foggy about 5 PM. P. P at night. Letter from Peggy.

 

26  S. Fairly nice day, blowing hard. Baptist preaching in afternoon. Reuels here for supper and Roy Toombs up in evening.

 

27  Wind cold all day. Ernest harrowing. David out in afternoon working at Bonnells garden. Washed.
