20  Lorne up this evening and Eric and Margaret

 

21  Bell came down Wed night. Temp down to zero.

 

23  Thursday and Friday it poured rain and the snow settled a lot and road bad.

 

24  Ernest and Gordon took Keith & Ethel to Hunter River. They were going to Town to see Pauline and plan to leave Tuesday morning the 27th. Colder this evening and snowing a little. Mr Coffin in bed with flu (Keith & Ethel went to Moncton by plane on their way back)

 

25  S. Not feeling very good for several days.

 

March   Dad got his ice in the first few days of March, good ice too. Earl helped him. Fine days but cool at night. Roads light but rough.

 

6  Poured rain all afternoon. Not doing more than I have to.

 

7  Colder this morning, wind north. A nice day.

 

9  Frosty at night but fine day. Ernest went to Town this morning. Una came up in afternoon. A lovely day but wind chill at night. Box of nuts from Nan.

 

10  Another nice day but looks and feels like snow. Dad got home around seven. Pauline and Terry fine.

 

11  S. A lovely day. Had bad headache in the morning but felt better before night. Ernest went to church in AM. Rev Neil Herman preached in Baptist Church in afternoon. Alf Simpson here in evening. Got Nan written to.

March 1945

 

Mr Coffin saw 6 robins on March 18th

 

12  12A. A frosty morning and chill wind all day. Ice in the Gulf solid. War news good these days for us but not so good for Hitler. Ernest went up to the Hall to help them fix up for a concert on the 15th.

 

13  A nice day. Dad and I went to Lewis in the afternoon.

 

14  Another nice day and we went to Rustico and to Ben Woolners and called at Roy Toombs on way home.

 

15  Temp up to 44 above and thawing. The Institute Concert at night and a very good one. They took in $154.00. Had a very good sale of pies.

 

16  Washed this morning. Wind NE but fine. Mrs Coffin washed this afternoon and they were here to supper.

 

17  In bed practically all day, bad headache. Got up around 4 PM.

 

18  Fine day almost cloudless sky. Thawing quite a lot every day. Had supper at Manse. Pitches bad.

 

19  Another lovely day. Feeling rather rotten, taking another cold. The Institute putting on their concert in New Glasgow to-night. Letters from Waine & Ethel.

 

20  Cloudy day and a light snow fall in afternoon but not cold. Ernest working at porch. Finished Terrys little yellow & white suit. Two spring sparrows here.

 

21  Heard robins over in the woods this morning. Ernest and I went up to Simpson Bells. Roads
