Jan 1943 & Feb
24 A nice day. Lorraine went to church at Jerrys. Mrs Darnley Clarke died around 9 PM. She has been very low for several days.

25 Very chill this morning but turned milder and rained and have quite heavy thunder and sharp lightening. Waine went down to Greens and called at Mr Tilleys in afternoon.
26 Milder. Temp got up to 30A. Waine went over to Manse in evening and Ernest & I went up to Ern Clarkes and then over to Fenners for a couple of hours.
27 Mrs Danley Clarkes funeral to-day. Just 10A this morning and getting colder to-night 6A. Not blowing very hard.
28 Dad and Oliver & Claude finished in the woods today. A chill cold north east wind and its just 10A to-night. Robbie Toombs here. He has signed up for Air Force.
29th Around zero and that was cold. Hazel Simpson here in afternoon.
30 Did Saturdays work and Lorraine went over to Jerrys to supper. Keith and girls came this afternoon, about 5 o’clock. Got to bed around midnight.
31 S. Fine day but chill cold wind. Went over to church in afternoon. Had grand ice cream for supper and lunch. Keith & Waine made some calls in the evening.
Feb 1st Keith and girls went home this morning. Not very cold and it started to snow quite thick around 3 PM. Dad took Lorraine to Rustico, left her at Roys while he went to the store. Called to see Helen Simpson Woolner too.

2 Washed. Pretty cold had a big washing, calm and they didn’t dry very good. George & Sadie and Winnielea and David Johnston here this evening.
3 A perfectly lovely day tho’ quite frosty. Waine & I went up to Fenners to help Mary with a quilt. Mr & Mrs Tilley and Eric Bell here. A bit tired to night and my side pretty sore.
4 A lovely red sunrise. Ernest went to Town. Snowed this afternoon pretty thick for a while. Mr Tilley trying to start a young peoples Group again. David came for Lorraine.

5 Mild. Mother fell on cellar steps and broke ankle. Anna, Mabel Stewart, George & Reg came to my assistance. Phoned Dad. He came home in evening. Some day.
6 Fine & mild. Dad went to meet Dr. Stevenson. Mother’s ankle pretty sore. Mrs Fred here in afternoon and for supper. Ern, Winnie & John over in evening.
7 Sunday. Raining and altogether miserable. George McC. and Stirling here in aft. David out in evening. Mrs Charlie Wyand died in morning.

8 Colder. Fred & Jack came to help get Mother ready for Town and went to Hunter River. Good road and she didn’t mind the trip. Mary Stewart stayed here all night. Snowed in afternoon. Beautiful fluffy flakes.
9 Fairly cold wind. Went to Mrs Wyand’s funeral with Fenner and Laura. Dad got home about 7:20 rather tired.
