March 1937

March 1  Lovely day, drifting a bit. Pauline in bed nearly all day. Ed went for Mother and Dad and they got home around 9.30. Mums just about all in.

 

2  Perfect day. Nothing much doing. Keith and Alvah Blackmore arrived about five o’clock with team. Edward and Norman McFarlane over for evening. K. over to Lowthers in evening. Mother on the couch ‘most all day with a crippled back.

 

3  Perfect day. The boys left about 10:30 with quite a variety of stuff including heifer hens[?] and incubator. Mother feeling better. Neta hooking. Mrs Wyand & Blanche this evening also Edward and Norman.

4  10A. Pretty snappy but moderated and snowed all afternoon. Girls had planned to go to rink but nothing doing. Ham went to Town and back.

 

5  Perfectly lovely morning, the trees are a sight with their lovely white blankets. Went over to see Ellice in afternoon. Anita finished another mat. YPS at Allen Wyands. Lem McLeod buried today.

 

6  18A. Nice day. Headache. Sewing class here. Hester here for tea. The three girls went to rink got home at 1:45 AM. Ruth Buntain came from New Glasgow rink for the weekend.

March 1937

 

7  S. Not a nice day, quite cold and drifting. The girls went to church in the morning, 28 there. Herb Wyand here to tea and took Ruth home in evening.

 

8  4A. Lovely fine frost morning. Girls washed. May and Alex came up in evening and were here til midnight.

 

9  Not so cold this AM. In fact it rained a little to day and settled the new snow. Anita getting ready to go to Sackville to-morrow. Back wretchedly sore.

 

10  Anita and Mr. Paterson got away in good time. Lovely forenoon. Ernest went to Hunter River for feed and coal. Snow flurries in afternoon. Charlie McKenzie here for supper.

 

11  2 above. Cold and blowing hard and drifting but sunny. Heard Myron over radio. Choir practice at night. Very heavy ice in Strait and Car Ferry was four hours late so Mr Paterson didn’t get home until after 11 PM with our horse.

 

12  Quite cold again to day but bright and sunny. Music class day at Webbs. Earl McLure here all day. YPS at Wesley Smiths to night. Dorothy Toombs came up for weekend.

13  Not very cold but a chill wind. Didn’t do much. PJ the smartest of the bunch. Alfred Simpson very sick in S. Side hospital pneumonia.

 

14  10A. Nice morning, not cold. PJ 17 years old to-day. We went to church in afternoon and Robbie and David came in for tea after service and for the evening.
