Sun. 6 Nice day – cloudy. Arthur & I went in to Stewart’s. The kids came over in afternoon. Robbie here too. Keith is only fair. Service in Baptist church in evening. Snowing when the kids started for home.
7 Nothing much doing.
8 Cold – Practice for the Nativity at church. Eric and Elmer called for us. Charlie Pink up – stayed all night.
9 Not doing any special. Home in evening and got our Christmas orders made out.
10 Weather (?) PJ and Neta at choir practice at night. King Edward abdicated.
11 Very mild and roads a perfect mess of mud. We three went to play practice at night. Only seven there. Lowell in to hear radio. Heard Prince Edward’s farewell speech to the Empire. It was wonderful.
12 Mild. Rather busy getting ready for the dinner at night. Heard the proclamation in London & Ottawa. Wilbert, John, Arthur and Annie arrived about 6:00 PM after a terrible trip from Rustico up. Helen and Eric failed us but managed to get Thelma for Wilbert. Had rather a jolly time. Levi Laird died.
Sun 13 Colder. Some snow in afternoon. The gang stayed until about 2:30 PM. Were all here for dinner including Lowell and Edward. They all went to church except A & I. Poor Ham arrived at church during last verse of last hymn. Had nice quiet afternoon & evening.
14 Cold but bright. Holiday. School concert practice at hall in afternoon. Levi Laird’s funeral at church. Dad went. Play practice at night at church. Lewis Toombs here for evening.
15 Lovely day. Some snow in morning but quite mild. Nothing much doing. Letter from Mother. Home in the evening.
16 Lovely day. Neta in bed all day. Institute here at night and a grand crowd.
17 Raining. Neta in bed in morning. Practice at church at night. Gang up from Carleton.
18 Colder and snowing. Practice at church. Eric & Elmer in.
19 Lovely sunshiney day, rather cold. Pauline and Dad went to S’side with Milton. Max Ferguson’s business. School practice in Hall. Rather busy day home getting ready for YPS at night. Good crowd and a very good time. Five pound box of chocolates from Judith
