Mild all over Canada

 

to Ray Toombs in afternoon. Took 41 cans of beef to get sealed. Got our invitation from Mr Cooper of the Theatre management for the Anne of Green Gables play. Quite excited about it. Bad roads.

 

9    Pouring rain this morning and freezing on the trees etc. snowed some in afternoon. Sewing, finished my blue dress.

 

10  Snowing early, turned to rain and simply poured all day. Got ready to go to town but decided to wait until to-morrow. Terrible floods in town and in Nova Scotia and as far as New York.

11  Went to town on a desperate road, mud, bare ground over dykes and snow banks but such a lovely day over head. Saw the picture Anne of Green Gables. It was wonderful. Stayed at Reuels.

 

12 7A. Saw several folks in the morning about town. Called to see Ruth White and came home on the 3.20 train. Road hard and very rough. Pretty cold night.

 

13  Sunday. 4B. Brr but its cold. United Church in the AM. Wrote letters.

 

14  6A. Frosty grey morning. Ernest took Nan to Kensington. Churning all the afternoon. Snowing to-night Herb, Lowell & Edward came to go skating.

 

15  2B. Blowing cold. Not doing much. Kids went down skating with Edward.

 

16  3B. Mighty frosty but fine. Lorraine washed.

24B at Truro

 

16  Ernest & I took Mrs Paterson to Institute at Ben Woolners. Quite a lot of bare road. Frosty. Girls kept house. Herb here for a while.

 

17  Very cold morning but not blowing. Mother says twas 16B Kensington way. Kids went down skating to-night and nearly froze. Pretty cold night. East wind and chill. United Church sectional meeting.

18  Snowing all day. Irving Green here all afternoon. YPS at Manse to-night. Colder to-night. Lorraine the new President, Upton Vice.

 

19  Pretty badly crippled up with sore back. Frosty but bright and snowy all day. No letter from Marion. Parcel from Mrs Gillings. Lorraine & PJ busy with Saturday’s work. Choir practice at Wyands at night. Dad & Lorraine.

 

20  S. Frosty morning. B. Church in afternoon. Not feeling very spry. Mr. Quigley called for books. Sing-song here at night. Gertrude and Don down for the evening.

 

21  Milder to-day. Ernest started the ice. Ellice over for a few minutes this afternoon. Letter from Marion & Ted. Adelaide had stroke.

 

22  Raining most of last night and blew hard. Didn’t do much. Turned colder at night.

 

23  A good many at the ice today. Nice day. Snowing a little in evening.
