Nov 1934

 

Clive McNeill & Dora Woolner married Nov 21st

 

19  New boy at Lorne MacNeills, Ernie Rollings McNeill, a 10 pound baby. Everyone well pleased. Nellie Simpson here to-night.

 

20  Cold bleak wind all day and freezing to-night. Ernest and John in the woods.

 

21  Lovely day. Washed in AM and baked, busy all day. Girls went to Charivari at night. Clive McNeill and Dora Woolner married at Manse. May Clarke was moving to York Point with her family.

 

22  Fine day, not cold. Annual meeting, Institute at Hamilton Lairds. Robbie and David here in evening.

 

23  Lovely day, very warm. Ham finished his thrashing and was here to supper. YPS at the Manse.

 

24  Very warm day, like September. Sawed wood in forenoon. CGIT in afternoon. Pouring rain to-night and wind nor east.

 

26  Fine but bitter cold wind all day. Foster Sellars called for Lorraine and took her to Carleton. Anita & I went to Wyands to practice over the hymns. Robbie & David called Service at Jerrys at night.

 

27  Fine day and cold. Ground froze but good roads. Anita has sore throat. Girls sewing. Ernest putting in wood. I went over to Austin’s in evening with Ernest.

 

28  Fine. Ernest cleaning up yard, wood all in. Sewing for Nellie and girls, sewing pyjamas & slips for themselves. I went over to Austin’s in evening while Ernest was at Harold’s. Good road, clear Road slippy.

 

29  Fine again and thawing out and roads a bit slippy.

Nov 1934 and December

 

Prince George Duke of Kent married to Princess Marina of Greece.

 

 

29  Roads pretty bad, girls went to Hunter River. Lorraine to get teeth out. Got books from Library.

 

30  Fine. YPS at Lionel Robinsons. Shipped hogs. Roads bad.

 

Dec 1st  Ah darn I made a mistake. Well, twas misty and wet all day, rained hard in afternoon. Roads very muddy. Drove down to Bobs in evening. Their anniversary, thirty eight there. Emily here all night.

2  Lovely day. Warm and good breeze. Arthur Wright and John Myers up from Carleton, bad road. Ellice over for supper. Church (United) at night. Not feeling very well. Reuel and Enid out in the afternoon for a few minutes.

 

3  Fine and colder. Freezing. Ernests birthday. Had chicken for supper, by way of celebrating.

 

4  Started snowing and ground white by night. Finished killing chickens. Rain & snow in evening.

 

5  Colder this morning. Ernest took chickens to Harold’s. 125 lbs at 16c. Letters from Lizzie & Elaine. Geese no price. Mr. Green here for dinner.

 

6  Cold and snow on ground. Choir practice here at night. Mrs. Wyand came with the boys. Robbie & David here.

 

7  Blowing and cold. Ernest got stove up stairs and we were busy getting ready for YPS social night. About 40 here. Good meeting.
