Got parcel from Dorothy Russel for PJ
20 Warm and blowing south east wind. All feeling very punk. Nellie went home from school. Ham here and Ernest clipped Laddie and Bill.
21 Got up in morning and had to go back to bed again. Lovely day. Everybody feeling very mean. Dad sold steer to Lorne Craswell for $25.50. Got cheque from Webster. Ham here.
22 Sun. Poured rain most of day. Mr Paterson had Hams road cart to New Glasgow. Everyone feeling pretty rotten with cold.
23 Lovely day after rain but cooler. Grass looking a little greener already. Sent Eaton order & seed.
24 Ernest went to Hunter River, took eggs for Austin and Edward took steer. Little boy pretty fussy and I’m feeling pretty rotten. Girls cleaning yard. Ernest cut down big box elder at south of house. An old old tree.
25 Lovely day. Washed in AM and ironed in afternoon. Anita and Ernest took small boy home. Pretty shiny in there tonight.
26 Wind cold so the girls started house cleaning. Marion ironed curtains. I sewed some. Tennis & wife Ham, Geo. & Stirling here in evening
27 Blowing hard and quite warm. Raining a little at night. Girls papered South West bed room. Sewing. YPS at Lornes and Cemetery meeting here. Jim Warren has the job of caretaker for cemetery.
April 1934 & May
Mr Paterson took car to Rustico & Upton & Ina went to Stanley with a car.
27 Little David Simpson has scarlet fever
28 Quite a storm in the morning, rain and snow and snowing to-night again. Lovely in afternoon. Anita & Pauline cleaned two bed rooms. Ellice over this evening. Dad at Freds to practice.
29 Fine day, wind east and cool. Mr. Quigley preached in afternoon. Feeling rotten. Robbie Toombs Eric Bell and Willie Johnston here in evening.
30 Blowing a terrific gale all day from SW. Ernest got farmers home and cleaning grain in afternoon. Helping Jerry load lumber etc. Eaton order came. Feeling better to-night.
May 1st Still blowing but warm. Ernest finished cleaning grain and plowed the garden and fixed up the hot bed. Seeds came from Rennies and Dominion Seed House Georgetown. Community Shower for Mary Clarke Smith at Fenners to-night. Probably a dance too.
Planted few early potatoes
2 62. Very warm in forenoon. Girls in garden. Ernest ploughing at shore field. Planted shallots. Institute at the Manse. Blowing very hard SW.
3 Girls tired. Blowing hard and a very warm rain this evening. Planted part of hot bed and sweet peas. Sewing. Girls and Wyands went to Clifton to night to a sing song at Ernest Dunnings, and didn’t it rain before they got home.
