27  Just one perfect day. Froze hard but not cold to-day. Sawing wood. Gang gone skating to-night on Clarkes pond.

 

28  Finished the wood at noon. Study group at night. May & Alex came up for their books.

 

29  Lovely day. Had a nice long walk along alder bush and brook. No snow anywhere. Went over to see Ellice in afternoon and walked home at night. Keith & Margaret took Annie to New Glasgow.

 

30  Lovely day. In bed with headache in morning. Busy to-day. YPS at Wyands. Eric & Jim W called for the girls. Ham here for the evening.

 

31  48A. Raining hard all day and oh the mess. Getting ready for a chicken supper to-night. Poured all the afternoon and cleared up at night. Ten came to the party, Robbie, David, Thelma, Irene, Blanche, Margaret, Dorothy Toombs, Jim W, Eric Bell & Gertrude Lamont. Had a real good time. Cold and freezing at night.

Mailman has run car. So far, no sleighing yet.

 

Jan 1st  Blowing and bitter cold. Dorothy Toombs here last night and until 3 PM. Everyone resting, church at night. Back very sore.

 

2  Fine, milder. Took up pump. Lorraine, PJ at Jerrys to tea. Vera down in afternoon, Mr. Quigley spoke in United Church at night.

 

3  Lovely day. Girls washed, Lorraine churned and we baked bread. Alvin brought Ernest home at night. Mr Paterson preached in Baptist Church. Roads not very good. Mild.

 

4  40A. Grand day again. Men in woods in morning and killed beef in afternoon. Anita went with Anne to Earls and brought Nellie home.

 

5  44A. Very mild all day and such mud. Ernest and Keith killing and canning K’s old hens. Marion sewing for Nellie and Anita & I fixing up little sweater. Ham here to supper and for the evening. Freezing at night.

 

6  Lovely day. Froze hard. Ernest cut up beef in AM and both he & K in woods for afternoon. Ham here to supper & for evening. YPS at Ben Woolners. Birthday supper at Jerrys for Clemmies birthday.

 

7  Very mild and a little cleaner. Rained at night and wind came around cold in night. Mabel and Clemmie over in afternoon. Men in woods. Marion and I sewing.
