17  Lovely fine day. Keith brought Mother down in afternoon. Institute at Wyands. Up nearly all day. Pretty tired at night.

 

18  Fine day. Had a drive in afternoon. Over to see Harriet. School children invited to Jerrys for a Valentine party and skate. Mary G. S. and David Johnson here in the evening. Wind east and cold.

 

19  Cold bleak wind to-day. Canning beef and hooking. Youngsters went in to Charlie Wyands to skate. Keith has bad headache.

 

20  Snowing all day. Wind Northeast. Ernest went to Harolds and W Moffats in AM. Hooking and dyeing. Long letter from Marion. No YPS to-night.

 

21  Quite a lot more snow down and still snowing. Quite mild. Almost rain at night. Feeling mean to-day. Side and stomach sore.

 

22  Still mild but not thawing much. Church at Jerrys. Blanche Anita and Keith went up to McCallums tonight. Northeast wind blowing hard but not frosty.

 

23  Snowing and blowing a gale, NEE. Governor Heartz house burnt in town. No school. No mail.

 

24  Still blowing a gale and storming fierce to night. Trains all still to-day. Car ferry having

24  a hard time. Took out mat no 2. New calf. No mail.

 

25  Snowing most of the day and raining to-night. Anita went over to Jerrys to supper. Didn’t do much to-day, a little dyeing. Getting McGarry mat bound. Train stuck at Hunter River and one between Borden and Emerald with the Amherst Hockey players and fans. Millar Orr & Ida Pursey.

26  Misty and snowing a little. Got Mondays mail to-day. Egg circle meeting in afternoon. Roy Woolner quite sick. Youngsters Wyands and Avalah playing concentration.

 

27  Foggy all day. YPS at Roy Toombs. Herb Wyand went with Anita & Waine. Long letter from Marion and four patriots to-day.

 

28  Lovely fine day. First sunshine for nearly two weeks. Ham, Hester, and Mr & Mrs Bishop here. Another long letter from Marion. John Laird sick, had Stevenson this afternoon.

 

March 1st  Lovely day thawing. Church in AM. Sing song in church at night. Cecil & Leona down and the kiddies in evening. Wrote to Peggy. Mike Doyle’s house burned.

2  Trying to get something together to send to Doyles. The women sewing at Jerrys and Milton Greens in afternoon. Fine day and not cold.
