November 1929

 

10  Lovely fine day. United Church in AM. All went but the cook. Bunch went to Wyands. Elmer took Keith, Marion, Anita & Jean to Kensington to Church. Dad & small kids & I went to John F’s for evening.

 

11  Very fine day. Mrs Wyand came out in AM and helped me sew. Got red dress cut out. Alex and May up to-night.

 

12  Lovely day. Very heavy white frost in morning. Mother & Lois down to dinner. Robbie Toombs and Avalah here at night. Ernest went with Preston to York Point to see Cora McLeod and she is coming to teach.

13  Fine and mild. Anna & I went to Hammond McKenzies in afternoon to discuss quilt patterns. Out with Ernest in evening delivery school bills.

 

14  Rained a little all day. Everybody busy. Got the soft water pump in yesterday and Ernest running gutters to the tank. Great scarcity of water this fall. New baby girl at Cecils. Ruth.

 

15  Poured rain all day long. Ernest went to Stanley with cream and saw the new baby. The stock all in the barn to-night for the first time this fall. Blowing

15  hard to-night from West. Started my red dress this afternoon.

 

16  Finer, colder, and blowing hard all day. Ernest banking the house. Keith at Austins. Went out with school bills in evening. Stayed at Miss Alberts.

 

17  Went up to Cecils this AM. Dr Claude Simpson down. Hurried home. Preaching in afternoon. Did not go. Marion went Bedeque with Fred & Emma Moyse. Anita at Austins all day.

 

18  Fine in AM. Nan & I washed got clothes dry before it stormed in evening. Snowed and rained at night. Felt a distinct earthquake shock at 4:35 PM. Fell all over the Maritimes as far north as Newfoundland and south as far as Boston. Class here at night.

 

19  Lovely fine day. Roads bad. Ernest & I went to Rustico in afternoon. I had supper at Alec’s and stayed at Institute Annual Meeting. Mr Ben Woolner Pres. Tired at night and didn’t sleep.

 

20  Fine and cold. Bean supper at New Glasgow. Keith & Anita went. Hilda & her young man too.
