May 1929

 

1st  Blowing hard all day and raining at night. Keith at Freds thrashing. Sewing. Practice to-night.

 

2  Pouring rain all last night and cloudy all day but warmer. Anita washed. Marion miserable. Serving on Anitas green satin dress. Play at Stanley at night. “The Three Pegs.”

 

3  Quite warm to-day. Marion looked after the chickens. Anita cleaned my bedroom and I got moved upstairs again. Practice to-night.

 

4  Dad went to town and Anita went to Hunter River to dentist again. Marion cleaned house yard. Blowing a gale but a lovely warm day. I went to play practice with them at night.

 

5  Another nice day. Ernest & I went down to Alex’s in afternoon and to B. church at night. Marion went to Wyands and Anita to Austins. Lowther girls here to tea and Irene Wyand. Lightning at night.

 

6  Pouring rain all forenoon but cleared up nice. Girls washed. sewing. Anna & Jerry & Ellice & Annie here in evening. First trout.

 

7  Raining hard most of day. In bed until noon. Sewing in afternoon. Ern McNeill did some spuds. Colder to-night. Wind west.

 

8  Not very warm. Hail storm after dinner. Anita & Ernest at the Hall in afternoon

8  cleaning up for play. Last practice to-night. Girls made candy.

 

9  Lovely fine day and night. The Road Back play came off with a bang. Made $102.65c. Full house. Everybody pleased.

 

10  Lovely day. Everyone tired. Ernest & I went to Creek in afternoon. Saw Mary Bernard. She is very miserable. Lemmie Wyand back in bed again. Very tired at night. Had tea at Alex’s.

 

11  Just a perfect summer day. Marion & Irene Wyand went to Town. Anita busy. Bob McKenzie got two cart loads of spuds. Dad & I went for clams in evening. Got ½ bus. Called at Jim Stewarts & Mothers. Annie & Margaret here for a feed of clams.

 

12  Just a terrible gale last night and pouring rain until the middle of afternoon. Got a lot of letters written and had a lazy day generally.

 

13  Fine. Marion washed. Elaine Myron & Kiddies Mrs AJ Robinson & Ralph came up from Tryon. The Road Back play at Clifton. Had a big crowd and made $37.50 for Cavendish. Keith got 28 trout.

 

14  Everybody tired but cleaned the pantry. Papered it this year. Play at New Glasgow. Holden McLures have new girl.
