preached to half church full of Presbyterians this AM. Keith to NG. Dad down to shore in afternoon. Cranberries ready to pick. Fyfe boys in to see garden. United service tonight, packed church, sermon good, our most popular sin Indifference. (Hear! hear!) The lot fell to Mont tonight to bring me home – had a runaway.

20th  Still the weatherman is kind. Dad & Keith hauling grain, Keith had another miraculous escape from being killed, fell from load of grain under horses feet with the load on top – horses ran, etc. Nellie, Gertrude, Mary & Ira here discussing Rally Service. Anita &Thyra in to School Fair meeting.

Mothers & Dads Wedding Day. Terrible disaster in Florida 4000 killed in hurricane & floods, Miami destroyed.

 

21st  A wretched cold northeast rain. Cleaned bookcase this AM, busy all day. Men threshing this afternoon. Ham here. Jennie MacKay up this evening. Mary fell in school to-day and broke a bone in her arm.

 

22nd  Another grey day Mack & Peter here threshing. Margaret over this AM.

Took her up to Wilburs, James R’s, and finally Nannies to-night. Made drop cakes and pies this afternoon.

 

Sept 23rd  Dark in AM, beautiful in afternoon & evening. Washed, cut up cucumbers for pickles. No school, teacher at Exhibition, sent with Arthur for cufflinks for Robbie who is going to Montreal soon. Fruits & vegetables poor in Exhibition this year. Practice tonight- all in.

Big letter from Mother she had seen “Ben-Hur” is having a whale of a time. Mrs. Eustice here picking cranberries.

 

24th Glorious sunrise, raining in PM. Keith ploughing. Dad hauling lumber, baked bread, made pickles, ironed and did the sweeping. Whew! No meeting to-night. Arthur & Cecil here, tired.

 

25th  Another strenuous day. Art here all last night, washed dishes this AM. Nan & I scrubbed and made pies. Thrya in. Parcels from Eatons. One more week & Mother will be home, am afraid she’d be ashamed of her big baby to-night. Aunt Lydie, Uncle Gord Ruth & Reggie came this evening. Good to see them. Mont here.
