Cattle tested this year all over the Island

 

9  putting out manure in mangle land.

 

10 S. Lovely day. Went to woods for a walk. Baptist Church in afternoon. Sing-song at night. Robbie Toombs here for tea.

 

11  Not very cold and fine in morning but raining a little this evening. Armistice celebration. Chicken supper at Mike Doyles. Ham here all evening.

 

12  Not a very fine day and pouring rain all afternoon and night. No news.

 

13  Such a rain, steady all day. Wind east. Ernest got young cattle in for the first time.

 

14  A continuation of the last two days rain. Mr Hill here testing cattle. Howard finished his month. Election day in Great Britain.

 

15  Showery most of day. YPS here at night. Not a big crowd here.

 

16  Much colder. In bed until near noon. Arthur Margaret Keith and Ina came up. Went to Creek at night.

 

17  Cold, froze hard. Reuels called in afternoon. Arthur and kids went home about 9.15 AM. Sing song at Jerrys. Walter Clarke killed, thrown from carriage.

18  Terrible day. Snow in morning then rain and wind, east. Dr. Hill back again, pretty badly shaken up after a car accident and the very bad roads. Several other accidents. Started on

Got new Hymn Books for Baptist Church.

Great Songs of the Church and New Gems of Song.

 

18  sweater. Worse storm along Atlantic coast in 20 yrs.

 

19  Not quite such a terrible day as yesterday. Wind cold but no frost to-night. Parlor social at Manse. Dad & Lorraine & PJ went.

 

20  Dark day. Not feeling very good. Institute at Jerrys on lunch committee. Lorraine & Dad went. I went to bed and scratched. Mrs Doyle new Pres of Institute.

21  Rained a lot. In bed, had Dr. Mellish over. Shower for Pansy Adams here. Itching terrible.

 

22  Lovely summer day. Feeling pretty dopey. Girls tired. Itching better. Elaine has a new baby girl. YPS at Gordon Lairds. Girls didn’t go.

23  Rained some. Dave McCallum dead. Girls busy.

 

24  S. Got up to-day. Cold and a gale. Itching terrible. Church at Jerrys. Stoves smoked. New Hymn Books

 

25  Still blowing hard, north east. Snow in Ch Town and some places east, none here. Ernest killed some chickens. Our hogs did very well. 10 ¼ c dressed.

Hogs took 1st prize at Amherst

 

26  Ernest and Lorraine went to Town and Dad got a new suit. In bed again, pretty itchy.

 

27  Lovely day. Girls washed. Ernest sawing wood at Austins. In bed.

 

28  Very warm and rained most of day. Feeling better, got up this afternoon. Put up our new thermometer.

 

29  60A. Pouring rain all day. Everyone knitting. No news. Telephone been out half the fall.
