Dec 1931

 

24  Lovely day. Anita went to Hunter River for Keith. He is home for winter. Ernest & Earl in woods. Up for a little while and out to Kitchen. Pauline quite busy to-day.

 

25  Wild and dirty all day. Snow and rain and snowing and blowing at night. Santa good as per usual. Got so many boxes of fruit. A Kimona from the family. Annie Lowther and the Ling girls here in afternoon and Margaret here in evening. Had my dinner in the Kitchen. Tired at night.

 

26  Rough morning. Telephone line out of business. Stormed all day, north easter. Not very cold. No mail.

 

27  Sunday. Continuation of yesterday. Stopped snowing in afternoon. Avalah McCallum here to supper.

 

28  Not blowing quite so hard but snowing again. Roads bad and mailman did not come. Telephone line badly twisted. Ernest and Fred looking for the trouble. Keith went to Harolds for supplies. No mail.

 

29  Finer. Girls had two weeks washing. Big mail to-day. Johnson, Lowthur and Webb kids at Mr. Bishops to-night also Robbie Toombs. Irene Wyand has mumps. No news.

 

30  Nice morning. Ernest in woods. Keith has sore fingers (fox bite) and cannot chop.

Dec 1931

 

DeBlois office and store burned last night. Dolph Flemings baby Ella Berniece.

 

31  Cloudy and bleak. Up this AM quite a while. Got over tired. No news. Annie and Edward over in evening. Ernest & Anita went to Bob McKenzies & paid axes at Greens.

 

1932

 

Jan 1st  Perfect day all day. Mrs Bishop came over in afternoon and both were here to tea. YPS at Fenners. Had dinner in Kitchen.

 

2  Fine. Ernest in woods. Keith went to mill. Youngsters at Johnson’s at night. Fever. Margaret here all night.

 

3  Blowing a gale NE. Bleak but little frost. Mrs Wyand and Mrs Bruce Graham here in afternoon. All went to church except Ernest.

 

4  Lovely day. Girls washed. Read Blue Hand. Marion at party at Manse. Mr Ackland brought Gertrude up.

 

5  Glorious morning. Keith took Margaret to Town. Mrs John Graham called in afternoon. Marion not very well.

 

6  Fine, not cold. Keith got home about 1 PM. Stayed at Wilbur Willis’s home in Kingston all night. Letters from Elaine and Belle Webb Hill. Raining at night.

 

7  Rained all night and mild all day. A lot of bare ground and the lawn as green as July. Ellice came over in afternoon. Girls dyeing for a mat for Miss Russel. Big box of chocolate came and a nice letter from Maud.
