October

 

10  Homestead. Fairly good. Cold but no frost yet.

 

11  Fine. Anita sprained her ankle so didn’t do much walking. Ernest shipping potatoes at 90c per bus.

 

12  Lovely day. Dad & I went to Creek. Came home with Mr Bishop and he had tea with us.

 

13  Cloudy. Ernest & I went for walk in woods. Louise etc did not come down. Got dinner for them. Elmer Keith & Anita went to Tryon for Marion & Pauline. Ed McEwen died.

14  Lovely day. Made jelly and chow and a skirt for Lorraine. B. Class at night at Jerrys.

 

15  Fine, mild lovely weather. Washed. The girls went to Stanley to the funeral with Margaret Lowther. Ernest and I were to see Fenner and down to Wesleys. Mrs Irving very poorly.

 

16  Rained all day, quite warm. Ernest got a cartload of potatoes from Ham.

 

17  Finer but showery. Institute at night at Dolph Flemings. Marion & I went with Margaret Lowther.

 

18  Showery. Keith at Wyands helping

with potatoes. Not feeling very well. Got letter from Sadie Head also two doctor bills.

 

19  Fine but quite cool. Picked our dahlias to-night. Expect there will be frost. Mr Bishop here to tea.

 

20  Fine day. Ernest & I went to woods with Jack and Arch Wedlock and Louise and the boys came down for the day. Church at night.

 

21  Just a perfect day. Out nearly all day. Ernest took in the mangles. Class here at night.

 

22  Another lovely day. Girls washed. Out most of day. Went down to Bobs in evening and to Creek. Foggy on the way home.

Nellie McC Brokins[?] has a son.

 

23  Very foggy until the middle of afternoon. Keith at Austins at potatoes. Hilda Ackland here this week teaching for Miss Campbell.

 

24  Showery to-day. Cleared up in afternoon. Margaret Lowther here to supper. Marion in bed to-day. Youngsters went over to Austins in evening.

 

25  Fine day. Keith at Austins, Ernest at Fenners. Young Peoples Society
