1925 January

 

21  8A. Snowing in morning. Washed. Ernest & Cecil nearly all day butchering. Institute meeting at Mrs L B Toombs, Keith and Anita went. Chum has 9 puppies.

 

22  18A. milder. Cecil went to H River. Heavy road. Ernest & I went down to Alberts in evening. Chum has pups. XYZ

 

23  Snowstorm wind n.e. And a very wild rough day. No school. No mail. Got much colder at night. Churned.

 

24  6 above and a gale from west. Breaking roads in am. Montague Wyand here this evening and got gramophone. 2 below tonight. Eclipses of the sun (total in Hamilton & N. York). Very good here. Will not happen again for many years.

 

25  Sunday. 16A. Milder today. Thyra was here this afternoon. Lorraine has a bad cold.

 

26  Lorraine has terrible cough. Keith went to Hunter River with Austin. Roads very bad. Pitchy.

 

27  10A in morning. N.E. snow storm all day. Blew hard at night. Cecil down, helped Dad butcher. K at JF’s.

 

28  4A. This AM and 15-B to-night. Loraine pretty sick yet. Got Pynex for her. Big dance at Fenners’ to-night. Our lads, K & A, at Fenners.

 

29  Lovely day. Ernest washed in AM. Had a lovely long letter from Maud. Ernest & I went to see Darnley in the evening. He has had the cold and a good deal of bladder trouble lately. Frosty but fine tonight.

1925 January & February

 

30  16A up to 34A. Snowstorm very thick in AM. Almost soft after dinner. Came on a regular howler at night. Children have colds, Lorraine better. No mail.

 

31  Pretty fine day but drifting. Fred C. came from Hunter River and brought over our mail. Road is very bad. Louis Toombs called in evening.

 

February 1st  Pres. preaching in morning, came up quite a squall. Children coughing. Keith & Nan and three Wyands went up to Bay View to-night.

 

2nd  0 degrees. Fine, bad roads. Ernest went to Hunter River with pork and old red cow. Got 12 ½ cents for pork. Bleak south east wind last night. Marjorie Clarke here all night.

 

3  4A. This morning and 14B at 10 PM. Fine today but had storm in night. Roads full. Scalded my hand this morning. All have colds pretty bad. Letters from Marion. She has started her music, two lessons a week.

 

4  13B. Fine day. Not feeling very good. Social at Westley’s tonight. Keith and Anita went thrashing this afternoon.

 

5  Milder. Keith went up to Bay View in afternoon. Cecil finished thrashing. Dad & I went over to JF’s in evening. Headache all day. Snowing a little to-night. Dance at Milton McKenzie’s.
