The German ship Bismarck sunk.
26th We got word that Arthur Ramsey is sick in the PE Island Hospital and that Lizzie is in bed. We went to Town at night and Ernest saw Arthur. He has spinal meningitis. We stopped at Gordons on our way home.
27 Another fine day. Annie & Pauline papered Anne’s room and I ironed. Mr Smith here to dinner and supper. We stayed up late to hear President Roosevelt speak. Lem Wyand here in evening.
28 Fine day. Pauline cleaning upstairs, painting floors etc. Not feeling so good in afternoon. Cold at night.
Frost in AM
29 39A. Raining in morning and turned bitter cold. Heber took Lem and Ernest to Town to a Victory Loan meeting and Banquet etc. A terrible North East gale and rain. Cleared up around 4:30 PM but temp down to 39 at night.
30 Still bitter cold and blowing a gale. Bad storm for the fishermen. Pauline cleaned the Kitchen. Heber getting his monthly report made out and Mr Smith here in afternoon. PJ & I went down in evening to see May.
31 A lovely fine day and perfect sunset. We got our first catch of gaspereau. PJ went to Hunter River for Gordon & Lydia. Mother down. We talked until midnight.

June 1st The worst tragedy Cavendish has know. Two Montreal RCAF boys and Harvard training plane crashed at the beach and burst into flames. I saw it from Old Orchard and we had a hard time getting central and S. Side. About all in at night. Gave supper to five and waited up until the rest of family got home from O’Leary. They took Keiths along with them. Aunt Lizzie has had two strokes and is very poorly.
2 Pauline took Gordons to the train this morning and we both rested after dinner. Lovely warm day.
3 Lovely morning but turned bitter cold. In bed until 5 PM. Pauline had a busy day and is tired tonight. She washed baked bread and ironed. Mr Smith here for dinner and supper.
Mrs Ben Graham had a stroke
4 Pauline went to Town for Arthur Ramsey but he had gone to O’Leary the night before. She brought Doris out. Mr Smith here for dinner. Jim Alec Stewart died in Falconwood 74 years old. Mabel McKinnon and her baby over in the evening. Gardiner McKinnon.

5 Weather keeps very cold. Fire in room, a lot of tourists around. Doris & I cleaned the little hall and my room and the big chest. Went to Rustico to-night. Mrs Ben Graham died to-night. Club house furniture came today.

6 Fine day but cold east wind. Finished cleaning the upstairs. Funeral in church this afternoon of Jim Alex Stewart and Ernest heard that Mrs Woolner is dead. Also heard
