down everywhere. Pauline & I went up to Freds in afternoon and help Hester quilt. Hockey game M Leafs 3, Bruins 1

 

30  S. Fine all day, very hard on eyes. Mr Tillie in bed. No church service. Charlie here in evening.

 

31  Fine in AM but turned out a gale & cloudy in afternoon. CGIT at Ern McNeills. Dad & I went down to see May.

 

April 1  Fair and cold. Mountains of snow every where. Ironing done. Sewing. The Navy doing great work cleaning up Italian ships.

 

2  A lovely day but wind east and cold. Thawing in AM. May (Mrs Alec McNeill) went to Hospital.

 

3  A lovely morning, froze. Had a walk on the crust the first walk since November. Ernest & I went to Bob McKenzies in the evening. Charlie Craswell & Stewart Parkman have pneumonia.

 

4  Fine to-day but beastly cold wind, east all day. Went up to Fenners with Ernest for eggs in forenoon. Ernest & Heber working at pump. Heber & PJ went down to Alfreds this evening.

 

5  Nice day. Just another day. Cold at night.

 

6  S. Cold but fine. Baptist Church in afternoon. Charlie here after church.

 

7  Cloudy and cold NE wind all day. Ernest & Heber went to Town. Mary Macneill over in afternoon and Una came up in evening. No CGIT.

 

8  Still cold wind. The men got home around 9 PM.

April 1941

 

Got 5 lbs potatoes from MacNamaras

 

8  May operated on this morning. Enid not very spry.

 

9  A very nice day. Thawing a little. Washed & baked. No news. Dad went down to Alec’s in afternoon & Charlie here for tea.

 

10  In bed with headache in forenoon. Girls here at night to CGIT. Mrs Lewis & Cora drove out.

 

11  Lovely day. Seven girls here in afternoon quilting CGIT quilt. Busy day. Not feeling very good.

Good Friday

 

12  Another lovely day and four girls came back and finished quilting their autograph quilt. Temp up to 40 and not much frost to-night.

 

13  50A. Lovely morning but clouded up. Plenty of radio reception to-day. Wind south and warmer to-day.

Easter Sunday

 

14  Cloudy in AM. No frost last night. Poured rain all the afternoon but cleared up before supper. Roads not very good.

 

15  Cloudy but thawed like everything. No ice in sight in the Gulf. Dad out shoveling drains and splitting some wood.

 

16  A perfect day. West wind. Summerside Airport officially opened and a lot of planes flying to-day. Washed and I did part of ironing.

 

17  Temp got up to 54 to-day. Just another day.

 

18  Fog and rain and colder to-night but fine.
