21st. Sir Frederick Banting killed in plane crash in Newfoundland
15 Ernest took Sadie home and got some groceries at the Creek. Made a choc cake. No news.
16 Drifting all day. No one went to church from here. Sadie got home in evening.
17 Bitter cold and blowing, didn’t was, snowed before night.
18 Still cold and snowed. Washed but clothes didn’t dry.
19 Got some ironing done, not feeling very spry. Sadie has cold too.
20 Still storming has been since Saturday. Snow banks everywhere. There was a little sunshine this afternoon.
21 Still grey but cleared up in afternoon. Everyone bit fed up with bad roads and weather. Feeling rotten.
22 House cleaned the Kitchen and part of pantry. Sadie went home this afternoon. Letters from Anita and Lorraine.
23 A nice day. Mabel & Stirling came down in afternoon and Keith and the children arrived soon after. Keith is in for trouble with his Mother-in-law. Poor Kid.
24 Keith and kiddies went home in afternoon. Herb Wyand and the Minister Mr Shaw called. About all in at night.
25 Ernest and Heber went to Hunter River, Heber went to town. Ernest got a load of coal. Was sewing aprons. Lorne and Mary here for evening.
26 First day of Lent. Washed and in afternoon went down to Ira MacCoubreys for afternoon.
Feb 1941
27 Badly crippled with sore back. Got up but couldn’t do anything. Sadie ironing.
28 Fine day but cold. Worlds Day of prayer. Sadie went and to Bible Class in evening. Feeling a little better.
March 1st Fine day until night, snowed. Ernest went to H. River for another load of coal and a bag of flour.
2 Sunday. Just a perfect day. Ernest & Sadie went to church. In morning. Heber got home in afternoon.
3 Washed in AM and baked in afternoon. Letter from Anita. Alfreds & Miltons here to-night.
4 Another grey day and snowed all day but fine to-night. Ironing done. Heber working at his car this month.
5 Fine and cold. Went over to Ern McNeills at night.
6 Very fine. Plenty of planes flying around, training planes. Binding a couple of quilts.
7 Fine. In bed all day, sore back and headache. Feeling rotten. Zero at bed time.
8 In bed until afternoon. Ernest took Sadie home after supper. Very bleak cold wind, east at night and snowed before morning.
9 Sunday. As dirty a day as one could wish for. Feeling a little better to-night. Its rain or hail or something all day and blowing a gale to-night.
10 Still blowing a gale and drifting. Sadie came at noon. Bobbie got around with mail at 4 PM. Roads very bad. Mary MacNeill came home from Ottawa.
