Jan 24 The worlds worst earthquake in Chile, South America
22 In bed all day with bad headache. Charlie came down to dinner and stayed all night. Snowed in afternoon and no one went to church from here. Blowing a gale and poured rain at night.
23 A forty mile gale. 22 above in the morning and a regular storm. 6 above at night and bitter cold wind. Men dug the grave in Cemetery in forenoon. Charlie went to Hunter River for Lorraine and had a cold trip.
24 2 above and calm this morning. Ernest went to funeral. Snowed in afternoon. Girls went to CGIT at Alfred Moores. Snowed at night.
25 6A. Misty in the morning and snowed a little in the afternoon. Not much doing. Bitter cold at night and blowing a gale. Earthquake in Chilli S.A.
26 6A. Another bitter cold day and drifting but sun shining. Ernest put a blister on Gypsy. Alfred Simpson here for the evening.
27 5B. The frostyest morning yet but not blowing quite so hard and a sunny day. Ernest went to Rustico for coal. The girls visiting at Freds to-night.
28 3A. Pretty fine day. Busy. Nan not feeling very spry. Made ice-cream for the school children as Lorraine taught to-day to make up for day lost last Monday. Maple Leafs score 6. Red Wings 0.

29 Church at night and the rest of family went.
30 A nice morning. We did a big washing and in afternoon Dad and I drove to Hunter River and motered to town with All Cutcliffe. Took Reuel to a show, The Three Comrades. Pauline LePage in bed.

31 Quite a stormy day but we did our shopping and went to Capital at night. “True Confessions”. Very cold day out here.
Feb 1 A nice day and we came home at night. About zero. Roads better than we expected but cuttings filled again. Pretty cold when we got home. Lorraines face very sore.
2 Frosty day and wind cold. Lorraine quite sick and has Thelma Smith teaching for her. Eric Bell here for evening. Anita and Thelma went to rink at Stanley.
3 Milder to-day and snowed in forenoon. Waine a little better but still feeling punk. Thelma went home to-night.
4 Milder to-day and a light snow fall. Turned much colder at night. Dad and I went to Lewis Toombs in evening, bitter cold coming home and down to zero.
5 S. Blowing a gale all day and drifting. No one went from here to Church and very few out. Nice quiet day.
6 Zero and calm. Girls washed and I churned and knit. Lorraine taught today tho’ not feeling very good. Missionary society social at Manse at night. A nice quiet time with a mighty poor lunch. We walked over.
