Sept 1937

 

22  Not feeling very spry. Mr Tillie here for dinner. Nothing special doing.

 

23  Lovely day. Went to shore in forenoon and stayed til 1.30, went to Rustico. Ham taking the wood down from back field.

 

24  Just one perfect day all day. Ham here at wood.  Aunt Sadie went to Alecs in afternoon. YPS at church.

 

25  Another lovely day but raining at bed time. Mother down for the day and took Aunt Sadie up with her to-night. Called to see Mrs Albert.

26  S. Rained quite a lot to-day but we went to Carleton and came home via Wilmot and brought Jean Caseley with us. Church at Kensington to-night. Rally Day service in Cavendish.

 

27  Lovely day. Washed in AM. Had five men extra for dinner. Mr Forsythe here most of afternoon and Ethel Rankin & family. WCTU meeting at Church tonight.

28  Thrashed this forenoon. Had 13 men extra for dinner. Mr Hurst out from town treating poison ivy. Went to town in afternoon but missed seeing Lord Tweedsmuir. Had tea at Enid and came home in pouring rain. Mr Forsythe brought out the piano.

 

29  Rained most of day and night. No men for dinner. Choir practice and Executive meeting at Church.

 

30  Finer to-day and lovely evening. Anita and Jean took Annie to Carleton to funeral and brought Margaret and kiddies up. Men here for dinner.

1937

 

Oct 1  Cool to day but fine until 5 PM. Raining to-night. Three men for dinner. Anita went to Kensington on the bus and Margaret went over to her Mothers. Girls did not go to Group.

 

2  Cold showery day. Girls took car to town for repairs, Jean & Margaret went with them. Made sweet mustard pickles. Cold to-night. Eric Bell here for the evening.

 

3  S. Baby Pats 2nd birthday. Reuels out for dinner. Margaret and Kiddies over for supper. Went to U Church. Miss Wood sang and Mr Moore. Went to New Glasgow to hear the Male Choir give a musical program. ‘Twas grand. Very bright northern lights.

4  Nice day. Anita & I ate too many grapes and were pretty sick. Rest of gang went to Kensington to hear a Darky sing hymns.

 

5  Nice day, warm but blowing. Washed in AM, and we went to Rustico for fish. In bed, feeling rotten. CGIT organized. Rev Ewen McDougald died.

 

6  Very warm, rained in afternoon. In bed until evening then went down to hear the National Sing Song broadcast from Ch. Town and the Election returns from Ontario. Liberals have a large majority.

 

7  Thunder in early morning and showers all day. Cleared up for a little while. Fencing going on.
