Mr Paterson father died

 

18  Eric Bell down for the evening. Mr. Paterson got word of his fathers death.

 

19  18A. Lovely morning. Ernest took Mr Paterson to Hunter River and is getting box from Maud.

 

20  26A. Just a perfect day to day. Went to Creek through the fields, good sleigh roads. School examination. Lorraine & PJ went. Got fifty books from Maud yesterday.

 

21  Had snowed in night and mild but turned colder in evening. Girls helped Anna at Church. Made doughnuts. Ham here all the afternoon. Ernest went to Jim Houstons in afternoon & Ern McNeills on business at night. Got a 3 lb box of candy from Windsor.

 

22  12A. Wind west and blowing hard and cold. Ernest went to Wyands with Lorraine to practice. Baptist Church to-night.

 

23  12A. Tried to snow all day. Girls made candy in AM and went to Jerrys in afternoon. YPS Christmas tree at night. Lorraine & Margaret Woolners had tug of war.

 

24  10A. Lovely morning but chill. Busy. Arthur came up but Keith and Margaret not coming. Big mail to-day.

25  15A. Excitement as usual. Dad and Pauline went to Manse to hear the King in morning. Pauline & Edward went skating in afternoon. Mother and Dad went for drive – over to John F’s and then up to Austins and

Mother stayed. They all came over in morning. Mr. Green sick with pneumonia.

 

26  Quite mild. Dad killing chickens. Arthur & Mother started for Carleton at 1 PM. Christmas cards still coming.

 

27  30A. Nice jolly storm. Bobby didn’t come. Not doing very much. Edward over in afternoon. Mrs Fred quite sick with cold. Will Green died about 11 PM. Austin didn’t go to town as planned.

28  24A. Fine but drifting. AJ McLeod died about two o’clock this morning. Wrote to girls in Norval. Dad helping dig grave in afternoon. Usual Saturday work.

29  12A. Sunday. Real nice storm. Edward over for books in morning and here for dinner. Read and slept most all day. Gary Rollings youngest child very, very sick with pneumonia. No service.

 

30  10A-24A. Nice day though rather cloudy. Not doing very much. Thrashed a wee bit in morning. Dad took nineteen chickens over to New Glasgow. Terrible road. Chicken prices 23, 21, 19c. Averaged a little over 6 lbs and $1.30. Fred Bulman died age 87.

31  20A. Snow flurries. Washed in morning and started churning. Pauline & I drove down to Roy Toombs’ in afternoon. Five pound box of chocolates came from Brownie. Letter from Marion, [?], Elaine
