24  Gordon Lairds. Keiths sow had 14 pigs, eight living. Old goose started laying. Mrs James Simpson at mill had hemorrhage.

 

25  Another glorious day. Anita hooking. Committee meeting in afternoon and Mary Dora and Annie here to supper. Play practice at night.

 

26  Cloudless day. Mrs Simpson died at 3 AM. Preaching in afternoon. The first Sunday for years (it seems) that we have had to ourselves. Read Tetherstones.

27  Cloudy part of day. Wind east and very bleak and cold. Stormed at night. Anita finished her door mat. Marion sick at night. Annie Lowther here all night.

 

28  Storming. Had planned to go to funeral but Anita went instead. Put in another mat.

 

29  Lovely fine day. Was out a little and E & I went into Wyands at night. Girls went up to Freds preparing for their YPS Banquet.

 

30  Bad storm, the worst this winter. Anita went to Rustico with David & Thelma for dishes. Dora Smith very sick, appendicitis. Quilting.

 

31  Very busy all day.  Ernest up at 4:30 AM and went with others to break the road to H. River for Wesleys to take Dora to train en

route to S. Side. Roads drifting until noon. Girls preparing for YPS banquet at night, which came off very successfully. 58 there. Very tired.

 

1st  Lovely fine day. Busy. Girls went up to Hall to clean up. Amanda & Geo here for afternoon and to tea. A wreck at night.

 

2  Snowed a little. Baptist Church in afternoon. Nice quiet day without company & Mrs Ren Toombs very poorly.

 

3  Grey day and rained in evening. Ernest butchered two little porkers. Play practice at night. Marion & Nan went with Gertrude Lamont down to Roy Toombs’s in afternoon.

 

4  Fine but foggy this AM. Girls washed. I spent the day with Ellice. Pouring rain to-night. Goose supper at Will Grahams, the checker club.

 

5  Foggy and damp all day and dirty thawing. Mrs Toombs died at Warfield Orr’s where she has been all winter. Anita hooking and I was quilting. Airship disaster off New Jersey coast when the Akron crashed in the sea and 71 lives are lost. 3 lived.

6  Fine to-day. Got clothes dried and ironing done. Ernest at Cemetery all forenoon. Big thaw to-day. Letter from Mrs Timmins.
