8  Mild this morning and thermometer up to 48 this afternoon. Snow just seemed to go like smoke. Mother had a letter from Elaine. Myron had an operation for appendicitis on Saturday. Mrs John Graham buried to-day.

 

9  Blowing a gale and bitter cold. Alban over this evening. Roads bad, snow nearly all gone. No mail.

 

10  Cold and blowing. Ernest sawing wood at Jerrys in AM. Hauling wood in afternoon. YPS at Mrs Paynters. No one down from Cavendish, roads bad and very cold.

 

11  Very bleak in morning but raining at night. Snowed thick from 4 PM until dark then turned to rain. Ernest went to Harolds in AM. Roads very rough. Dug grave in afternoon, a brother in law of John Purseys.

 

12  Bright fine day but wind cold. All went to church in AM except Ernest & I. Wrote some letters in afternoon. Sing-song here at night. Very tired. Zero at night.

 

13  Very frosty early. Girls washed. Ernest sawing ice for Ern McNeill and Lorne. Went over to JFs in afternoon. Play practice at Ernest Clarkes.

 

14  Some excitement this AM. Earl Toombs stole Max Fergusons horse Lindy out of his stable and got away with it. Play practice at Jas C Simpsons. Down to Mrs Alberts in afternoon.

 

15  New boy arrived at Olaf Stevenson’s to-day.

Anita started hooking. Institute at Mrs Wyands to-night. Snowing a little all day turned soft in afternoon and stormed at night. Valentine program. Good fun.

 

16  12A. Colder again to-day and quite frosty this evening. Mrs Fred came down with the Pony to help the girls sew. Boys choir practice here to-night. Ernest Anita & PJ went over to Manse to listen to Prince of Wales College opening over radio, Earl Toombs caught at Kensington this morning.

 

17  Milder again to-day. Men sawing more wood this afternoon. This is the third spell sawing this winter. Anita up to Freds this afternoon. YPS at Jerrys.

 

18  Snowing a little nearly all day, quite mild. Finished sawing our wood. Have a couple of loads to saw for Ham. Everybody dead tired to-night. Play practice at Fenners.

 

19  Lovely fine day. Baptist church in afternoon. Ellice and Magaret, Mr Quigley and Mr Mayby here to supper. Sing-song at Jerrys to-night.

 

20  Lovely fine morning, not very cold. Girls washed in AM. Finished Hams wood. Anita went to Rustico with Marjorie Clark to rink. Rained
