29  Lovely day all day. Planted part of hot bed and Ernest put the dahlias in earth. I walked over to Ellices in morning. Marion went to Orange practice. Myron and Elaine up from Tryon for first time this spring.

 

30  The first really spring like day and evening. Andrew Paynter here to-day. I went up to the play practice at night. Sheriff has taken charge of the Earl Simpson property.

 

May 1  Just a lovely warm spring day. Keith harrowing mangle land in afternoon. Went to Chester Woolners for hay in morning. Dad and I went up for clams in evening.

 

2  Lovely morning. Went with Cecil to S Side and stayed up at Bay View until after supper. Thunder in afternoon and heavy rain. YPS at Rustico to night. Incubator came off. About 50 chicks.

 

3  Fine all day but cooler. Sewing. Mr & Mrs Webster out in afternoon. Busy and tired.

 

4  Cloudy, rained in afternoon. Dreary day.

5  Fine and cold. Trying to finish satin dress. Got word in afternoon that Harold Toombs and

5  Thyra Clarke had disappeared. There’s a heartache in Cavendish to-night. Went down to shore with Mrs Wyand and Blanche. Practice to-night.

 

6  Cloudy but did not rain too much. Girls washed. I went over to John F’s in afternoon to see if Winnie had a dress Marion could wear at play. Ernest & I went over to Mrs Alberts in evening. Everyone feeling terrible about Harold and Thrya. No word of them yet.

 

7  Lovely fine day. Went up to Wilburs and Freds this evening. Everyone terribly worked up about Harold and Thyra but they were found at Hartland N.B.

8  Fine day. Girls cleaned my room. Jerrys over for a while this evening. Everybody very tired.

 

9  Another fine day. Cleaned pantry. Murial Stewart Louis & Margaret here. Busy busy day. Going to Mayfield to-night. Went to Willie Moffats.

 

10  Thyra and Harold have each arrived at their respective homes. Choir practice here and play practice at Hall. Everybody tired. Weather fine but cold. Keith sowed field across lane.
