16 to Richard Stevenson’s for tea and to Ben Woolner’s to Institute. Terrible pitches in roads. Went from New Glasgow to Creek on ice. Three feet of ice in Bay yet.
17 Milder to-day. Snow getting very crumbly. Finished quilt. Gertrude & Thyra here to-night. Made ice cream.
18 Everything snow white this morning. Wind west and cold thawing a little. Nellie George, Lorne, Marion & Keith went to Wyands to-night. Anita went up with Thyra.
19 Fine morning but wind cold. Ernest killed two little porkers. [?] comfort. Went down to Alex McNeills in afternoon to help her hook. Ernest & I called at Alberts for a little while in evening.
20 NE. Blowing a gale. Ernest went to Hunter River with his two little porkers. Came up a terrific snow storm the worst we have had all winter. Ernest got home at noon. Wild night. They had to carry water to cows to-night.
21 N.W. Still snowing in forenoon but cleared up before noon. Anna and Jerry over in evening and Montague came along about 8. Brand new boy at Willie Simpsons at Mill. Trains stuck, no mail.
April 22 Lovely day. Washed. Thawing a little all day. Looks very much like rain to-night. Ernest, Anna, & I went up JR Stewarts and to Mothers practice at McCoubrey’s. Mrs. John Simpson, James O’s Mother died this evening.
23 Lovely mild day, the snow has settled a lot. Ham here working in woods.
24 Lovely warm day. The snow settled a lot to-day. Mrs John Simpson’s funeral this afternoon. Roads getting bad. Ed Graham’s baby died. Nan went to Wyands, Marion to Anna’s, Dad to McCoubrey’s.
25 Sunday. Gray day. blowing a gale from S.E. Ed Graham’s baby boy buried in afternoon. Austin McNeill’s house at Stanley Bridge burned to ground between 4:30 & 6:30. Pouring rain at time. Wyand’s here till midnight.
26 Lovely spring day. No frost last night. Ernest, Keith & Ham working in wood. Marion in bed. House cleaned sewing room.
27 Froze a little last night and water drained away. Ernest, Keith, and Ham in woods getting some wood out for Alex Toombs. Put in a quilt this morning. Winnie and little Mary came over for tea.
