May 1st  S.E. Warm and fine in AM. Started to rain about 3 PM. Marion at Jerry’s practicing. 2 hens hatching to-day. Tired and miserable tonight.

 

2  SE. Rained & foggy until afternoon. Baking in AM. Dad in cemetery. K. ploughing down below house. 2 hens brought out 23 chicks. Blanche & Mont Wyand here to-night. Over to Jerry’s.

 

3  Sunday SW. Just a lovely bright day. Warm drying wind. K & Marion went to shore. Dad & I & 2 small kids went up to Bay View after dinner and we all went for Mayflowers in Nannies Barrens. Down to Alberts this evening. Nellie McCoubrey operated on for appendicitis.

 

4  SW & around N, NE to SE to-night. Has been a lovely day. Washed, baked, cleaned up the garden a little. Got Dahlias up out of cellar. They have kept very well. Dad & Anita to a school fair meeting in Mayfield. Dad to a reorganizing meeting at North Side Institute.

 

5  SE. Keith harrowing, Dad in cemetery. Not much good. Rained in afternoon. Dad got 4 nice trout.

 

6  SW. Fine day. Keith harrowing. House cleaned Keith’s room. Sowed lettuce & shallots. Hot bed up.

 

7  SW. Fine. Keith harrowing. Planted sweet pea seed. House cleaning a little. Tired to-night. Nellie McCoubrey has been pretty sick in hospital. Planted early potatoes.

8  SW. Fine and blowing dry. Ernest sewed mixed feed in the little field below house. Anna over this evening. A skunk under barn. Young people’s meeting to-night at church.

 

9  SW. Fine. Ernest sowed wheat, Keith worked up some of garden. Planted nasturtiums. Headache all day, tired.

 

10  SW. Fine, Enid and Reuel out and Mother & Cecil came down with them to supper. Pres church in afternoon. Girls got mayflowers to-night.

 

11  SE & SW. Nice warm day. Dad sowing mixed feed in back field. Rained in afternoon. Went fishing, got 11, not very big.

 

12  NW to NE & SE. Very fine but wind cool. Ernest finished sowing field of mixed feed. Worked in cemetery in PM. washed, chickens hatching, Geo Day around with fresh codfish. Rhubarb for supper.

 

13  All around. Very fine. Keith has sore ankle. Ernest harrowing all day. Road machine in the district.

 

14  E & N.E and bitter cold. Ernest on road machine to-day. Marion & PJ and I went to Creek. Nearly froze. Mrs Albert has grippe.

 

15  NE and raining a little nearly all day. Planted peas this AM. Cleaned our room this afternoon.

 

16  NE & N. Cleared off but wind cold. Harrowing swamp field. Busy all day. Everybody tired to-night. Mrs. Albert very sick to-night with grippe. Roy Toombs & Dolph Flemings are in bed.
