17  W. S.E. & S. Fine but blowing hard and cold. Washed curtains & cleaned halls. K & Nan away to Y.P.P.G. at church to-night. Mrs. Tennis here.

 

18  S.W & N.E. Bitter cold to-night and a little snow flurry. Had ice cream. Cleaned kitchen or most of it.

 

19  N&E. Fine but cold. Enid & Reuel & Pauline were out today. Anna was over. Keith sent for 50 chicks to-day with [?].

 

20  26A. NE. Just a year since I started to keep a diary. Bitter cold grey day. Blowing hard and very cold. Keith & Ernest making a chicken house. Murray Robertson dropped dead at Hunter River this morning.

 

21  NE. Clear and cold. Ernest at cemetery all day nearly. Keith got his day old chicks from Town. E & I went to Creek. Called at Alberts and Alex’s.

 

22  NE. but a lovely day. Funeral in afternoon and institute here to-night. Had the Pauline Johnson program here, a big crowd about 60 present. Mr. & Mrs. Hammond Toombs and Mr & Mrs. Wm. Geo. Simpson came from Kensington to our meeting. Had a good time. Anna got 100 baby chicks. Austin Laird has had 300 baby chicks this spring.

 

23  S. this morning but NW this evening. Keith got a trout this morning and a dandy mess of clams this afternoon.

23  Everybody tired to-day. Ernest working in cemetery

 

24  N. Blowing a gale all day. In bed with a terrible headache.

 

25  Finer to-day. Ernest has a wretched cold to-night. I’m badly banged up with rheumatism. Chickens doing fine, have only lost two.

 

26  Sunday. Head bad this AM. Pres preaching, Dad & Keith went. Cleaned up beautiful in afternoon. 3 oldest went to Jerry’s. The rest went for walk back Lover’s Lane. Marion & Keith went up to Bay View.

 

27  S.E. Raining in AM. Washed, cleared up lovely. Came up a big thunder squall about 4PM. Jerry Simpson harrowing. Had the chickens out to-day for awhile. Dad saw a swallow. Very thick fog to-night.

 

28  NE. Miserable cold wet day. Blowing hard. Marion ironed. Dad clipped Dolly.

 

29  NE. Lovely early but came up a drizzly rain. Started plowing mangle land, some frost under manure. Washed a few blankets this morning, didn’t dry. Quite a lot of northern ice in and seals. Hard on lobster gear. Dorothy Warren has mumps.

 

30  E and SE. Dull and warmer. Very heavy rain from about 3PM til night. House cleaned sewing room and store room. Keith went to Creek. K. & Marion caught 5 nice trout. Corn muffins for supper.
