24  The concert at hall to-night and Im alone. The concert was quite a success.

 

25  A nice day cloudy but not cold. Had a very nice quiet Christmas and as usual so many gifts for everyone. Had a lovely chicken dinner and made ice cream for after church. United Church at night.

 

26  Nice day. I paid up for eating Christmas dinner and had to go to bed, quite sick all night. The young fry went skating on the pond.

 

27  Planned to have a party to-night but canceled it. Blowing a gale, snowed a little and rained plenty at night. Lorraine & Arthur at Lowthers to supper & evening.

 

28  Still blowing and getting colder. Ernest took Arthur & Waine to Hunter River. Going to Stewarts. A bitter cold night with 35 mile gale.

 

29  6 above zero this morning and 12 above at night. Wind went down and we had a fairly quiet night.

 

30  A gentle snow fall and temp up to 26 above. Girls went to group. Eric Ball down. Group pretty nearly dead. Mr Tillie not much help but has been seemingly working in opposition.

 

31  6B Dad went to Joe Stewarts for oats and to the mill. Paid telephone bill. Kept getting colder until 6B at night but at 11 PM was 10 above. Blowing and snowing a little at bed time.

Jan 1  A bustery cold day and spent quietly at home. Chicken dinner. Nothing special.

 

2  No mail to-day and a very miserable stormy day until about 2PM. Cleared up and temp got up to 32A from 16A in the morning. Blowing a gale from West at night. Anita went over to Austins.

 

3  6A. Bitter cold and blowing very hard. Dad went to Hunter River for Lorraine. She spent yesterday in Carleton at Wilbert Wrights. Martha had quite a few in to dinner. Gordon Fyfe here this evening.

 

4  4A. Quite cold and blowing hard all day. Clear and sunny. Ernest went to Mayfield to see Robt Zeb about taking the barn down. Heard Pres. Roosevelt give his address at the opening of Congress to-day. Too cold for CGIT. School opened to-day.

 

5  A very fine day and not so cold. Went down to see Mrs Albert this afternoon. Jas. O. here in evening & Margaurite Graham.

 

6  Dad went to Hunter River for coal. Milder but a chill day. In bed with bad headache all day. Rained at night.

 

7  Foggy and mild. A mess outside. Ernest went to Head of Bay to see what trees are down.

 

8  Still mild and cloudy. The rest of family walked to church and Mr Tillie asked Lorraine to play. Finished a letter to Maud. Ethel Wyand gone to Town to take music lessons.
