November 1940 & Dec
27 29A. A nice morning but cloudy all day. Washed in morning. Calm and the clothes didn’t dry. Pauline took Mother up after dinner and got stuck in Cecils lane. She & Dad went to Hunter River afterwards. Charlie here in afternoon and we cut up citron for jam. Heber left for Town in a thick snow storm. Big dance at Eastern Hay & Feed building.
Snowing thick to-night
28 Calm all day and 4 ½ inches of snow fell last night. Heber got home from Town but imagine a good many are getting stuck to-night. It’s blowing hard and temp down to 28 in Town. In bed until 3 PM.
29 14A. A cold west wind all day and a bad road. Sleighing the only way of travelling. Got word from Keith that Margaret is in the hospital, miscarriage I guess. We didn’t know there was anything doing. They took her to hospital yesterday morning and she is very sick. Edward over in evening.
30 Snowing all day to-day. Dad went over to Austins to get news and the word came that they had some hope of her as she seemed a little brighter this morning. Busy with Saturdays work and knitting.
Dec 1 A stormy day all day or until about 2:30 PM. Milder but blowing hard to-night. Got word that Margaret is better. Ellice is going to S. Side in the morning. A quiet weary day.
Aunt Sadie died age 75.
2 14A. A cold morning and blowing. Got word from O’Leary of Aunt Sadie’s death. Ellice went to S. Side. Dad and Heber went to Rustico with the tractor. Bitter cold. Expecting Messers Smith and Smart out from Dalvey.
Dec 3 Snowing hard all day. Got word from Keith that the Drs had no hope of saving Margaret’s life and Dad went to Summerside on evening train. Bad road, so much snow down and cold. Everyone worried. Ernest 60 to-day.
4 4 above this morning and fine. Edward brought word that Margaret a little better this morning but not out of danger. Her condition still critical to-night. Getting colder all day. Temp dropped to 10B at 8 PM and up to 10 above by 11:30. Mrs Jim Bulman died this evening.

5 20A. this morning and 32A to-night. Blowing and drifting until afternoon. Got a letter from Ernest and Margaret not any better. David Johnston in to-night. Ernest staying at Prestons.

6 Margaret passed away this evening.
7 Myrtle went to Keiths this afternoon. Reggie drove her to Hunter River got to Keiths 12:45 midnight. Tired.
8 Mild. Men shoveled road down to Keiths for funeral. Cars couldn’t get to the house but met us at the pavement. Raining hard. Very large funeral Church more than full.
9 I came home this AM walked from H. River to Glasgow. Took sick with flu.
10 In bed all day. Pauline and Charlie
