Dr. Norman Macneill died in Sussex
29 Dad and I went down. Very weary to-night.
30 Awake early and numb. The war situation has been terrible and then Lorraine left this morning for Ottawa in answer to telegram, received Tuesday. Dad cleaning and waxing the big rooms floors. In bed early.
31 78A. Very warm day and wonderful growth. Mr McNeill finished painting kitchen ceiling and papered the kitchen this afternoon. We went to Town in afternoon and Doris Wood came out with us. The house a mess when we got home but looks better now.
June 1st A lovely warm day all day. Mr Smart & Mr Smith here to dinner. Mr McNeill painting kitchen. Getting things straightened around again.
2 Misty in morning. Dad & PJ and I went to O’Leary to bring Aunt Sadie down but she was in bed and not able to come. Had dinner at Lizzies, supper at Mays and called at Veldas and George Webbs and Daisys. Made the trip home in 1 ½ hours.
3 A lovely day and the girls had a big washing and everyone busy as could be. Showers at night. Eric Bell down for a few minutes.
4 Quite warm and blowing hard. Mr McNeill finished painting and took his departure at night. Had our first tourists from Indiana. Mary & Pauline collecting for YMCA.
Louise 4 years old
5 A lovely day, not too hot. Doing some fixing up and every thing looks pretty nice. We went to S. Side after supper and to Keiths. Twas Keiths busy evening. Got home at 10:45.
6 A miserable day all day. Thunder from early morning and bright lightening and heavy showers. Heber went to town. The men quit work for day. Mr Smith out in afternoon.
Marion 33 today
7 Quite a lot of damage done in yesterdays storm. Barn and stock burned at Freetown, a house struck in S. Side and Baptist church in Bedeque and torrential rains in some sections. Finished binding a quilt today, went to Rustico and I went over to Erns for milk.

8 A lovely day. Cleaned up our strip of ground around the house and reset some plants. Dog tired to-night. Charlie here to-night. Heber and Doris went to Town.
9 S. Poured rain most of day and fog and cold north wind to-night. Daylight savings time from now on. No news. Wellington Houston buried to-day.
10 Italy has declared war against the Allies as President Roosevelt has put it, stabbed France in the back. Electrical Inspector here also Mr Smith to dinner. A perfectly lovely day and evening.

11 A lovely day all day but blowing some. Bad headache this morning and didn’t do much. Looks like rain to-night. Quite a number around to-day.
12 Cloudy most of day and to-night cold enough for frost. Pauline, Mary, Lorne McNeill and Annie Moore & I went to Town. PJ got her permanent. Dad planted our garden up at Stirling and we visited Mabel for awhile.
