Sept & Oct 1939
Gertrude and Marion stayed to dinner. Murray went to Hunter River for the box of grapes. I made jam out of what I could salvage. Oh yes there is a war in Europe. Rained at night.
24 A nice day but cold. Quite a number around and Maud called for her mail. Rally service at night.
25 Lovely morning but clouded over and cold and rain to-night. CGIT here. Marion & Murray at Jerrys for supper.
26 Rained. Marion Murray & Elaine PJ & Lorraine went to Town in afternoon. Tea at Enids. Turned cold and frost. Hail & snow some places.
27 Heavy frost in morning. Marion & Murray went out fishing in afternoon. Brought home 29 mackerel. The older members of Group here in evening and Mrs Campbell & Jim, Hodge Montgomery & Aunt Maud here too.
28 A nice day and Murray Marion and kiddies and I went to Carleton before dinner and got home at 9 PM.
29 Fine. Getting ready for our trip to Halifax and getting Murray packed up for the trip to Norval.
30 A lovely morning and we went to Halifax, Marion and I. Murray Margaret Howitt & Theo Ling going to Montreal and Norval.
Oct 1 Rained and some fog but we had a lovely day, enjoyed every minute of it. Miss Piers, Miss Moore & Miss

Haszard at Elaines to tea. To church twice.
May & Cyril Smith have another boy, no 5
2 Came home again, a lovely trip and all was well. The girls getting ready for the trip to N.S.
3 Ironing etc. the older CGIT girls here in honor of Marion’s visit. Everyone weary at night. Mr Smith and Mr Sinclair here to dinner.
4 Cloudy but no rain. The girls got away in good time. Lorraine, PJ, Annie Lowther, Marjorie Lowther & Mabel Simpson. Quiet day and Marion did some sewing and I rested. Girls came home on the 7th, had a wonderful trip and no trouble. Marion & I had quite a hectic time with Ian on one wet day but he isn’t a bad little chap at all. Oct 8th Alec & May took Maud & I to Malpeque to Mrs Percy McGougans to tea & had a very nice after-
10 noon and Maud stayed here until the morning of 16th. We had one afternoon in town and a day driving went to Cape Traverse to see Miss Doull and left Marion and children at Keith’s and went on to S. Side, Linkletter and St Eleanors. Saw Anna McN. McLure, Alf & Sophia Simpson, back to Keiths for an hour and home.
