November 1924

 

Nov 27  Lovely day. Anna sick. I was there all day. She went to the hospital in evening. Wonderful weather, sunshine everyday.

 

28  Fine again. Anna operated on this morning and is doing as well as can be expected. Marion in bed all day. The children & Wyand three went to Bay View to hear radio.

 

29  Perfect morning. Feeling awfully miserable sore throat, etc. Keith home now. Jerry got home. Anna not too bad.

 

30  N.E First real snow storm. Keith & Marion went to woods. In bed all day.

 

December 1  Snowy and wintery. Neuritis pretty bad.

 

2  Same as yesterday, not very cold, blowing hard.

 

3  Lovely day. Plum pudding & duck for dinner. Bob & Jennie Mckenzie up this evening. Marion & K. up at mothers. Back sore. XYZ

 

4  Grey cold day, drifting. Quite cold tonight. Anna doing fine. Letter from Mrs. Toombs. Children all home this evening.

 

5  Lovely bright day. K. at J.F.’s Ernest hauling manure. 3 oldest at Wyands to-night.

 

6  S.E. & N.E. Snow, Rain & snow. Still thawing. Dreary & dirty. Anita went up to Bay View to-night.

 

7  Sunday. Fine day. Pres Church AM. Irene W. came over from Church. Mr. Hodges & Randall Houston here to tea. B. preaching this evening. Splendid sleighing.

 

8  Raining in AM. Keith’s birthday. Killed duck, washed

8  and made a plum pudding. Tired to-night. 4 eggs today.

 

9  Foggy all day. Rained hard last night. Blowing and freezing to-night, clear. No news.

 

10  Blowing a gale, not very cold, cut three big trees by boiler house old landmarks. Jerry went to town. Girls, Gertrude, Nellie, Mary here to practice.

 

11  N.E Blowing and snow flurries. Jerry came home. Anna doing fine. Ernest went to Creek, bad road, neither sleighing or wheeling.

 

12  Fine day. Party at night for school children. Big time. Tired.

 

13  Just a lovely day, wind SE. Not doing much. Anita’s birthday. Practice here to-night.

 

14  Raining in morning, clear at noon. Blowing and cold tonight. Jerry over this evening. No preaching. Marion Montague Irene & Keith up to Mothers to listen to radio.

 

15  Blowing a gale and bitter cold. Killed chickens and working. 6 degrees above 0. at Elaine’s comfortable. Killed 15 chickens. 7 for Reuel. 4 ½ pound.

 

16  10 above. Ernest went to Hunter River with chickens. Jerry brought Anna home. A bitter cold day but bright. Class at mother’s at night. Bad roads, no snow.

 

17  Washed. Ernest working at cow stable & getting wood home. Keith got the [?] to work.

 

18  Fine, cold. Letters from Vernie & Maud. Aunt Sadie hasn’t been very well. Vernie has had to leave college.
