18  Did some sorting up and burning this afternoon. It seems so strange not to hear Aunt Margaret calling. It is the first day that we have been alone just ourselves for a good many years.

 

19 North wind, showery in morning and a rainbow but cleared up lovely. Picked some tomatoes and beans. Marion & Margaret Johnson went to Rustico tired to-night. Sold 2 ¼ bushels of tomatoes price, 80 cents per bunch.

 

20  Our wedding anniversary. It has been a beautiful cloudless day. Washed bedding in the morning. Marion, Keith & Anita went to Hunter River to dentist. The children and I went down for cranberries. Baseball game between Cavendish and Rustico with Rustico ahead. Ernest & I went up to mothers, sold 1 bushel of tomatoes.

 

21  Sunday. glorious day. Went to Rustico this morning. Children went to hear radio at night. Ernest, kiddies & I went to see John F.

 

22  Perfect weather very warm today. Keith went to North Carleton to pick potatoes. They are paying $2.00 per day. Margaret, Anita, and Margaret Johnson went to Rustico for a drive. John Johnson Mayfield died this morning at 3 o clock. Very bad with asthma and choked to death. Peter Stewart, Mrs. Darley’s brother died aged 89 yrs. Started boiling for pigs.

 

23  Fine day. Washed, Ernest went to the funeral in afternoon. Rev. Wm [?] Milligan lectured on Irish wit & humour in Pres. Church. Geordie Billie McKay, Stanley died.

 

24  Cold and fall like. Ernest plowing. I was in bed with headache until 4:PM. Ernest Clarkes have a brand new boy.

 

25  Cold and blowing a gale. Felt pretty mean. Finished picking our tomatoes. Had a bushel of cherry tomatoes. Anna had the school children and the older folks for
