11 afternoon with over fifty for lunch. Camp fire at shore for the Smileys. Tired to-night.
12 A very fine day and everyone busy. Quite a number around. Went to Hunter River to-night to see the Wedlocks but they were not at home. The Smiley family in this evening.
13 A perfectly lovely day and we didn’t have any one for meals but got ready for a big day to-morrow. All went to town at night. Took Keith and Margaret with us. The Laird Houston and Lowther celebration at Austins in afternoon. Quite a gathering of the clan.
14 Another lovely day and such a crowd as we had around. Fed 68 and there wasn’t much left in the house. Anita went to Baptist Church at night and Pauline and Davis went to Stanley. The Smileys here in evening.
15 Fine and blowing. Had Annie here to wash and terribly busy until afternoon. Girls and Dad went to town to see Rebecca and WH Dennis, Tom Dennis and wife called after they left.
16 Pauline & I went to Town early and had a busy day. Institute at Chester Woolners but we didn’t get down, too tired.
17 Still hot and dry quite a number around and we had a big rush at noon. Sold a lot of dishes. Long River YP camp fire at the shore at night.
July 18 Very hot to-day, over 80. Everyone working at hay. Dad and Lewis went to Town in morning. Not so many around to-day. We went down to Keiths for half a case of chicken.
19 A nice day but turned cool. Had a few for lunch. Maynard Shiles and Mr Munn here to-night.
20 The men slept in this morning so everyone was very busy all the morning. Maynard Mr M. PJ & I went up to O’Leary to see Aunt Sadie. She is very miserable and I’m very doubt if she lives long. Mother came down at night and the rest of gang went to Town.
21 Rather cool all day. Had rained a little. Fed over Thirty. Boat in from Montreal and a crowd arrived for a while. Maynard & Mr Munn left for Borden around 6 PM.
22 Foggy early and damp until afternoon. Annie here washing. A lot of people around all day. Ellice & Annie over this evening.
23 Anita went to Summerside for Aunt Lizzie and the groceries. Janie Wedlock and family over in afternoon. Its been a busy hot week and everyone is tired. Great to have Lizzie with us. We went down to Keiths on evening of 25th and when we got home heard that little Maynard Simpson was lost so went right up. He got away and was not found until next morning about 5 AM in a hay field that had been cut near Ceds line. He was sound asleep when found. No sleep that night.
