September 1924
1 Cloudy. Labor day. Reuel, Enid, & E.P. Gordon Keith & James Holmes came out for days picnic. Mrs. A.J. McLeod died this morning, took a stroke Saturday night. Kidney trouble.
2nd Cloudy & showery all day. Washed in AM. Went over to Jerrys & Freds in evening. Planning for a shower for Elaine.
3rd Rained all night last night and part of forenoon. Cleared up lovely in afternoon. We went up to Stanley to Mrs. Archie McLeod’s funeral. Very large funeral & very sad. Cut up cucumbers for a second batch of mustard pickles.
4 Cloudy rain before dinner and a real nor’easter by night. Mother & Elaine down this afternoon. The girls frosted the wedding cake. Aunt M. getting very weak and wandering bad to-night.
5 Cleared up lovely. Busy all day. Marion & I went up to Rustico in AM. Aunt M. very noisy all day & night. Big shower for Elaine at Jerry’s at night. She got a lot of lovely presents. Very, very tired. Ernest McNeil has grippe.
6 Fine but big fog clouds. Mother came down about 11 and helped me. About all in but the boots.
7 Sunday. Very busy all day. Lovely and fine. Marion & I went in to the city. Marion with Reuel and I went with Gordon and stayed there all night. Aunt M. very weak.
8 Lovely morning. Gordon took me in to Enids early. Elaine was married at noon. Mr. Lindsay performed the ceremony. Everything was lovely. Reuel brought us home this evening. John F. got badly hurt today. Fell off a truck wagon & the wheel went over him.
9 Lovely day all day. Ernest finished cutting grain. Keith at Cecils. Aunt M. pretty low at dinner time today. Marion sick with cold and feeling pretty badly too about girls[?] going away. Got word to-day of Mrs Wedlock’s death. Jim’s mother died yesterday morning.
